https://talksport.com/sport/boxing/646435/boxing-news-anthony-joshua-vacate-eddie-hearn/ Looks like he is getting the Tyson Fury treatment after winning the belts. As he will take the Pudding Pulev route, it is likely that the WBO belt will be vacated. Frank should steam in and do all he can to get DDD in there to challenge Usyk. Probably get his head boxed off but he has a very good punchers chance and will learn more in that fight to really shape his career if he loses.
AJ is more likely to face Usyk than Pulev, because of the money and legacy implications to be frank. Talking of frank I dont see Fish eyes risking him in a fight this year. His fight against the Sushi chef means he is planning on moving him slow. Despite it being clear to me he is ready to step up to top 15 level now! Dubois can definitely do better than how he is being matched.
It's very wrong to strip AJ if he's willing to fight two mandatories in a row. However, Eddie is in a healthy position because one of the mandatory challengers is his guy. If AJ faces Pulev and Usyk fights for the vacant title, Eddie can make AJ/Usyk in a blockbuster. The big question here is who does Usyk face if the title goes vacant. I've heard Parker mentioned? I'd fancy Usyk to do the business v Parker. Usyk is in a great position here. He'll make big money in a PPV v the likes of Parker. He'll become heavyweight champion if he wins and as heavyweight champion, he'll get a nice split of the pot v AJ.
According to Fwank after the fight last night, he’s aiming to make Dubois v Joyce for the British, Commonwealth and European titles on PPV!
Can't understand why they would want to strip him as he is the money maker of the division and it just devalues the belts even more. I will be very dissapointed if he vacated the WBO out of the 2 though.
Now that'd be a tragedy. Two of Britains best up and coming heavyweights facing off. It deserves a big audience. 50k PPVs maximum.
Surely Usyk fights the next contender (Parker) for the vacant belt and then the winner faces the winner of Joshua/Pulev. Usyk could choose not to pursue his mandatory slot I guess as he’s with Matchroom so long as he faces Joshua eventually. It’s totally possible we get Joshua/Parker 2 later next year which isn’t exactly an exciting prospect given how the first fight panned out.
Usyk gets a title shot and he's with DAZN. So this doesn't really affect Joshua. Hearn doesn't mind losing a belt to another DAZN fighter, a fight can always be arranged.
It's boxing politics in my view. Arum and co are playing chess moves to try to corner Hearn. ESPB/Top Rank have signed Pulev and they're desperate to get some part of the HW scene, if only to stop DAZN/Matchroom from cornering it. They would happily enforce a stripping in order to get Pulev the belt and they'd make Hearn pay through the nose if not. The IBF tend to be uncompromising with their mandatory's to their credit I guess. WBO acted very quickly after Ruiz fight to push their mandatory as next. We all know how they seem to have a close relationship with TR/Warren. So it doesn't look like they'll budge either. I think Hearn will advise AJ to fight Pulev and hope the WBO order Usyk v Parker, because he should be able to do a unification deal with either of them. If he defends the WBO and Pulev gets that belt he's off to ESPN and an eventual fight with Fury or possibly Wilder. AJ won't see it again.
