Cooney. If Joshua had a good jab and delt with pressure better I'd pick him, but Joshua kept looking at the ref for help whenever featherfisted Parker brought on the pressure. Cooney will keep the pressure coming the whole fight and if he lands one flush left hook Joshua stays on the canvas. Joshua's never faced anyone like Cooney, who brings the pressure, has a great left hook, and has good stamina.

    to a ko punch.

inm that way that really tall people fall in the ring, they fold in half as they go down.

joshua boxes from distance to start / outboxes cooney and then KTFO .

cooney gave a game effort v holmes but was outclassed

    also outclassed by michael spinks

even old geoerge foreman had too much boxing know how for him

cooney despite his height needed to get inside as his left hook pet punch was short and sharp

i see this fight like the breazeale v joshua fight / joshua taken his time wait for cooney too make mistake and then land and cooney did not have a breazeale type chin.

Interesting fight. Wlad came razor close to landing monster left hooks continually throughout that fight, so I guess it boils down to whether or not young Cooney threw a faster left hook than old Wlad did.

joshua being underated and cooney overated on this thread

at this moment joshua is a unified champ having 5 world title wins / is an olympic gold medalist and has faced a lot of unbeaten fighters in his short career from all over the world

cooney was an american domestic fighter from memory never fought anyone but americans
never won a world title and never beat a young up and coming top 10 fighter ever

his 3 best wins were young / norton and ellis ? / all of whom were at the tail end of there careers

scott le doux who older posters will remember v holmes drew with norton a few months before cooney beat him to put cooneys norton win into context

it was like joshua beating johnson .

if cooney could have landed his left hook v joshua / he would have joshua in trouble / but joshua is way more skilled and also way bigger and longer than the fighters of cooneys era / he is also younger / had mopre power and more accomplishments

i would give cooney a 20% chance because of his genuine power

Cooney was in the era when boxing was almost a domestic US sport, he wasn't around when the ex Soviet Union beasts were allowed to turn pro from the late 90's, if he couldn't win a world title then he wouldn't win one now.
