In his fights so far he has fought at a very high pace, an even though this has being for a few rounds. If he had real stamina issues he would be tired but he hasnt even being breathing heavily which suggests he doesn't have a serious stamina problem, although whether he can fight for 12 rounds is unknown, although if you believe the rumours about his track times etc, I would say he could.

Bruno was a solid world champion.

Gave Lewis his second hardest fight next to Vitali.

There's no telling if AJ will be a mental midget like Bruno was.:huh

How many marathon runners could go 12 rounds in a boxing ring?

Bruno wasnt a mental midget as such, i think he just had poor recuperative skills and not much heart.

But Bruno could punch, he KO'd all but 2 of his opponents and one of those guys was Oliver Mcall.

The guys who beat Bruno were all huge punchers, Tyson, Lewis, Smith and Witherspoon but Bruno was only ever off his feet twice i think.

There was only one Frank Bruno, Joshua will carve out his own legacy, whether it's better or worse than Bruno's is hard to say, way too early in his career to know what he'll achieve.

AJ is more naturally talented than Bruno was though. He's faster, more athletic and agile, so he has greater potential. But will he have Bruno's will to fight on against adversity? It may have taken Bruno 4 attempts to win a title but he persevered and that perseverance paid off.

Bruno was never off his feet even in his losses!

It's amazing how many sports scientists, S & C Coaches and Drs of physiology there are on this forum.

I doubt his cigarette legs will be able to hold up all that tired bulk.

When Joshua goes down, he wont get back up.

I can see his heart getting shattered after all this hype.

Bruno was floored heavily against Bonecrusher and counted out. Otherwise his other stoppage defeats came with him against the ropes (although two of them would have classed as knockdowns due to him being held up them).

There are a lot of myths about Bruno's punch resistance. He showed good recuperative powers in the 2nd round against Cummings, and was able to hold and cover up effectively until his legs came back and his head cleared. He also took a lot of flush shots against Spoon and Tyson (twice) before the finishing barrage.

Stamina definitely played a part, but the main issue was that he didn't move his head enough and fought a lot of dangerous punchers with more ability than him. He didn't look particularly vulnerable against decent opposition like Coetzer and Williams, in terms of either punch resistance or stamina. Cummings aside, he didn't have any scary moments against second-tier fighters, which is what you'd expect from people with suspect stamina or chin. Bruno was simply a good fighter who came up short against very good/great fighters.

He should fight Johnson next. A fight like that will give him some much-needed rounds, and improve his stamina.
