WBN can confirm that Usyk vs Joshua 2 can boast sales of 1.249 million despite the elevated cost. It’s almost certain now that Fury vs Joshua will be sold for between £29.95 and £34.95."

The first fight did 1.232 million PPV buys.

Joshua is in 6 of the top 7 PPVs solved in the UK.

Just a comparison, Fury vs Whyte flopped big time. They flopped so bad, they didn't even dare to announce the numbers. They predicted more than 500k PPV buys on ESPN and 1.5m. on the UK, yet they did 40k on ESPN and didn't even announce the PPV numbers for the UK.

Fury name is nowhere to be found in the top 10 UK sales. Not a single one. As much as people like to deny it, Joshua is still the biggest star in the UK. If the Fury fight doesn't happen, Joshua can rebuild and re-emerge himself as the king of the Heavyweight division when Fury and Usyk retire.

Was there any industry gossip about the numbers from Fury v Whyte?

I think that fight suffered from the dispute with Whyte and his subsequent refusal to promote it. A bit of banter between the pair of them may have helped to grab the public's imagination.

Another factor could be Sky? They've been the leading ppv platform for many years now. BT Sport ar good at what they do, but It's a big ask to reach the same numbers as Sky have built over so many more years.

Call me miserable but I couldn't care less who the 'biggest star' is, who does what buys/ratings/numbers and who earns what.

But Tyson sings after a fight! He must be more popular!

There's a reason why he's had time fight abroad. He just can't do it over here like AJ. I know he had a bigger attendance, but if he was truly that big he'd be able to pack it out against a nobody yet he can't. As well, what were the PPV numbers against Whyte in this country? :)

Why do PPV sales get people more excited than the actual fights?

    Very bizarre

You can only lose so many times mate. Boxing fans, like football fans tend to be quite fickle.

I am not sure why any of this matters to real boxing fans

the casuals, the fairweather fans, the girls down the pub on the Smirnoff Ice, screaming AJ's name but can't even see the screen or care to, yes, they might need confirmation that they are watching the same boxer everyone else is. or confirmation boxing and AJ are still fashionable .
but people who are into boxing actually..No, I don't get it.
not sure exactly why this stuff excites people here.

Impressive numbers. I thought Fury would handle AJ easily in their upcoming bout but now I'm not so sure.

No surprise to most of us, except those that wanted to believe that he was no longer the biggest star in British boxing because of previous losses.
