Martin Ward said he's fighting 5th oct at the o2 so that'll probably be Joshuas debut

Do you think he'll get the same push as Campbell? I don't think so myself, he's too raw at he moment whereas Campbell can be moved quickly as Joshua learns his trade

Crowded scene just now. Cast your mind back to the early mid 80's when Bruno had his first outings, the only domestic rival he had was veteran Joe Bugner. Joshua will have to be handled with care.

Its a difficult balance to strike with Heavyweights.

He will get fed the usual journeyman. But I would like to see him in with a much better class than what was fed to price. These guys are used to fighting world class opposition. They do not need to have their first 20 fights against Belerusion Cab Drivers.

If he gets a few quick fights in they could build him by tempting Audley back in for a passing of the torch.

He's still very young and he's raw but probably more suited to the pro game than the ams. But with his limited experience and young age they can afford to move him slowly. at least 6 fights a year and fighting for British title from his 20th fight onwards would be a reasonable aim in my opinion

Joshua is a bit of a special case, he only started boxing at 18 and has still had less than 40 amateur fights.

The fact he got a silver at the world champs and a gold at the Olympics is more of a testament to his natural talent (and some lucky decisions) than his experience at the top level.

He's only 23, and he's heavyweight so he's got plenty of time to be brought a long slowly. I'm of the opinion his style is already better suited to the pros than the amateurs. There's no reason why he can't have a year or two like Wlad did back in '96 picking up experience and fighting every month before stepping up.

Actually he's had 43 or 46 can't remember which one but they had him in boxing news a few weeks ago and it was definitely in the 40's.
