He got sent off balance off a very brittle but dangerous puncher in Price....the same price that starched AJ with 18oz gloves on....he was never on the brink of defeat.

But do agree that this is a little late for Povetkin at 38.

At this point in Povetkins career, he’ll be 39 come fight time, I think Joshua is definitely the favorite.

It’s still a very good fight and a dangerous one for Joshua and a Povetkin win isn’t much of an upset at all.

I’d give Povetkin a 40% chance of winning in what should be an entertaining and competitive bout. Joshua by late stoppage.

Povetkin will always carry threat, but I think AJ by KO after a smart and systematic fight - Povetkin has a lot of heart, is a smart fighter and will make it hard for AJ to just have his way but Povetkin is smaller and arguably a bit more chinny (this is relative, I am not calling him glassjawed by any stretch) than Parker so I suspect will start looking more "up against it" than we are used to him looking when he ends up looking damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

I am a big fan of Povetkin and thing he could have his moments, or even the chance of a BIG moment - but this could end up like a bit of an entreé for an early 2019 Wilder feast.

It was shocking to see how bad Povetkin stamina was against Price. Add that to his age and the fact Joshua has a massive reach advantage and it's hard to see a Povetkin win. If it goes past the 4th round then it's a Joshua win.

I know Price is bad but I really can’t see him getting knocked out when he’s not even fighting!

I don't remember mentioning Wladimir Klitschko in this thread once. Nor do I remember this thread ever being about Wladimir Klitschko. So again I ask, who is Wladimir Klitschko and what does he have to do with this thread?

Are you physically and mentally capable of not mentioning irrelevant points that have nothing to do with a particular thread?

Well that's how some posters here are making this match up look like. An astronomical mismatch! Let's just hope those same individuals are willing to be consistent and criticize Joshua if he fails to fulfill the expectation and standard that they've set before the fight, rather than retrospectively changing their narrative by claiming Povetkin all of a sudden has a great chin and was a great boxer, when that's not what they've been claiming before the fight.

    joshua will octopus povetkin

the precursor to this is the parker fight. he went full freaking w.klinchsko on him.
he's going to do the same here

wlad already laid the blueprint to octopussing the russian to death
joshua just has to hope for the same ref he got against parker and do the same

I'm a Joshua fan but have to agree with this. Wlad is considered an atg by many on this forum and that's based on 10 years of jab and clinch. It was disappointing to see Joshua adopting the same tactics in the Parker fight. I guess it's the obvious game plan against a smaller opponent.

I don't expect reckless attack like the Whyte fight but at least try and counter. He does have a nasty counter right hand.

Just come out and admit your worried that Joshua will perform more impressively against Povetkin than Wlad did ...hence why you posted this -

Joshua's performance against Povetkin may expose Wlad as the total fraud depending on his method of victory. As a Wlad nutthugger that scares you to death.

I'm just holding everyone to their own standard. If someone claims Joshua would easily KO Povetkin because his chin has been exposed to be weak because of David Price and because Povetkin is that much inferior to Joshua. Then if Joshua fails to KO Povetkin as easily and impressively as they claimed before the fight, they can't then go on to say after the fight, anything along those lines:

    - Povetkin all of a sudden had a great chin all along.

    - Povetkin is all of a sudden, has been a very good boxer and a very good win for Joshua.

Instead, to be objective, they must say:
    - Joshua is a total feather fist.
    - Joshua is a total fraud.

No backtracking! I want objectivity and consistency!
