who wins the rematch? andy ruiz jr or anthony joshua ?off nite for an un focused disintrested anthony joshua ? or will the same thing happen in nov ? or will joshua not take this guy lighlty ? and get the beslts back ? crystal ball how does it go in nov discuss ?
As long as Ruiz comes out swinging like he did tonight, he will crush AJ. AJ is like Wlad, looking great behind the jab, but as soon as either of them gets touched, they fall apart.
Completely pointless rematch This wasnt a fluke one punch KO AJ was outclassed in every department he cant improve his chin for the rematch
Joshuas cherry got popped, he won‘t be the same anymore unless he develops the almighty coward supreme jab and grab Wladomirowitsch/Lewis style and goes for handpicked opponents provided by selective management. He should start from scratch, work on a new style , a punching bag opponent like Brazil or Kownacki would be good for him, someone who is not fast and can’t move, another loss against Ruiz would be really bad for him and his reputation.
This will be the ultimate test of character, I had my doubts about AJ before, i saw lots of flaws and vulnerabilities but thus far he always found a way to win so gave him the benefit of the doubt, This time around his flaws were completely exposed. This is his chance to see if he can bounce back like a true champion and improve and make adjustments, I predict he returns with a completely new style reminiscent of Wlad 2.0, Keeping the fight at long range, fighting off the back foot, lighter on the feet and pretty much taking zero chances. If he's smart he will also lay off the protein shakes and weights. All Ruiz needs to do is come in in the shape of his life and try and be even quicker, even sharper and apply even more pressure. If AJ can stick and move for 12 rounds, keep touching him with the jab and break him down he win's on points because he will be too shook to take any risks going for the stoppage. If Ruiz can apply enough pressure cut off the ring and walk him down to the point where AJ starts to slow down ruiz catches up with him and stops him. You can't stand and bang with ruiz when your too big bulky and slow to match him in the exchanges, Unless your chin is legit enough to take one to land one which AJ's clearly isn't. you gotta box him while being light on your feel and AJ ain't doing that for 12 rounds weighing in at 247lbs that's for sure. AJ's Bulked him self up with the intentions of just blasting guys out of there but his chin and stamina isn't going to enable that to work at world level. He needs to change his style. Plenty have done it in the past, Wlad, even floyd, Weather he can is yet to be seen.
There ain't jack AJ can do in a years time to close the boxing craft gulf that lies between him and Ruiz.
AJ. He was placed on a too high pedestal as it relates to his in era standing, but now people are going too far in the other direction. He was thoroughly winning the fight through getting the first knockdown. They he got caught and never looked the same. If his confidence can be rehabbed, there is no real reason to think he can't just adapt his style, fight more cautiously, and systematically tear Ruiz apart.
The second punches started flying in the first fight AJ was totally outclassed. It wasn't even close. AJ simply couldn't recover when he got hurt while Ruiz recovered quickly. AJ simply could deal with the hand speed. AJ had no answers. I don't see a different outcome unless AJ makes dramatic improvements and changes and I don't see that.
Joshua should have a hard think about an immediate rematch. Unless he gets his head in the right place and makes adjustments it's gonna be the same result
