Johnson is a good boxer, but he has the nickname "Safety Pin" for a reason - he has no *****. His resume looks like **** over the past six years because he just can't pull the trigger on anyone, no matter what featherfisted junk they're throwing at him. He seemingly treats every fight like a casual spar. He needs to get some venom. But if he did, he probably wouldn't make so money from the half-hearted sideshows that have become his bread and butter.
Wasn't KO'd by Charr, he quit on his stool from a shoulder injury and was holding his own. He's going to expose Cobra next month. :deal
And why do you think KINGPIN has been fighting like that...??? I'll give ya the answer....his old management screwed his career, taking fights on short notice (Fury, Chisora, Hammer, Charr) and entering him in Prizefighter...!!! Take away those 7 fighters (2 wins and 5 losses) The management group only saw immediate dollar signs, not long term money...hell they were stepping over dollars to get pennies...!!! We had a meeting prior to the Fury fight, KJ said NO to the fight, we all voted to not take the fight, the management team agreed to the contract; screwing KINGPIN. Same thing with Chisora, Charr, and the on again, off again hell they put him through with Hammer...!!! He was legally binded to allow them to handle his career, sign fights, etc. Kind of hard to get up for a major fight when you're doing basic training, no major sparring, etc and then travel 18 hours by plane to a different time zone and be ready within 2 weeks. And sadly too many boxers get their careers ruined by money hungry assholes that only care about the financial rewards, not what benefits the fighter's career...!!!
Appreciate the info and insight, but it all makes him sound like a "victim", which is really all he is in the ring nowadays. Can't help but think if he took more control of his life outside the ring, his results in the ring would be better. Surely there's only so long a man can sit back and get screwed ...
Alot of boxers go through it. Look at Manny Pacquiao...!!! KINGPIN signed a 2 year deal with the old management team back in 2012 (right before Leapai, though we were guaranteed they would allow him to take that fight), and look at him now...!!! Look at guys like Darnell Boone, Emmanuel Augustus, etc Journeymen that either had little management backing or guys that had management dictate [and ruin] their careers...!!! Boxing is a terrible business, unless you're a manager, promoter or advisor...!!!
Joshua is a big fav obviously but I can deffo see Joshua get Priced in the later rounds after finally (sorta) stepping up. A lot will depend on who Johnson has been sparring these last months. It's certainly a value bet to go for and I'll have a few quid on it.
Joshua's style and attributes are all wrong for Johnson just like Vitali and Fury were. Johnson likes opponents to come to him, as he likes to sit back box off the back foot and counter. Joshua fights tall, he'll punch from range, not giving Johnson the opportunity to counter and as Johnson cannot fight on the front foot and can only jab and counter he'll likely lose every round. Johnson's stance has him firmly planted in a position to counter it's why he can't cut off the ring well his stance and body position reduces his mobility. Johnson simply doesn't have the skill set to force the fight if behind, he never has and never will, he's a pure counter puncher and he can't fight any other way. Joshua will win but the real question is how will he win. Johnson is cagey and durable but I think Joshua will be the first man to stop Johnson. It won't be a clean KO, though he will go down at some point but the ref will likely step in the save him while on his feet and taking a beating. TKO around the 5th-7th round.
I know he beat Joshua and all but I don't see the style wise reason for that. Who else has he been sparring?
Johnson has no offense. On the rare occasion he throws, he looks like a nymphomaniac trying to fend off a ******.
Sorry but this goes back farther. The Vitali fight was not short notice, hell K2 was working it before Vitali even fought Arreola, and he couldn't "get up" for the biggest fight of his career? Just as he did then, as he does now.....he runs his mouth, pre-fight antics....then shows up fight night and doesn't punch.
I never said the Vitali fight was on short notice. When Vitali fought Arreola, KINGPIN was already scheduled to fight Odlanier Solis on a Latin Fury card in October (Solis re-scheduled the fight twice beforehand)...!!! We did not get the contract from K2 til mid-October for the Klitschko fight...!!!
