Fury will be the real test for Usyk and will be the real answer for is a smaller heavy can compete with the best super heavies of the modern era.

While smaller heavies can beat bigger one's as you've pointed out the question is can they beat the super heavies who fight using the techniques that Steward developed for Lewis, Wlad and then recently through Sugar Hill for Fury.

Why have super heavies in recent decades dominated it's not like we haven't had guys this big before? My theory is that now we have the techniques perfected to utilise a super heavies assets in a way that would be effective unlike before. Steward and the style he taught basically laid the foundations of Super heavy dominance and right now nobody has figured a game plan or style to consistently overcome it.

Bowe lost to Holyfield for a reason and it was Steward who master minded Bowe's down fall seeing the flaws in this super heavy and then ensuring Lewis and Wlad didn't have these same flaws that could be exploited, which led to their dominance in part.

Many compared AJ to Bruno, some even dared say Lewis, but AJ for me has always been most like Bowe to me, so Joshua now twice losing to smaller men just like Bowe losing to Evander seems to make sense.

Joshua uses his height and reach but he doesn't use his size and strength. Steward understood you can just keep these quicker smaller guys on the outside with a good jab and movement, you have to get physical, use the lead hand not just as a jab but as a way to control smaller, faster men and this will be the test for Usyk vs Fury. If Usyk can do it, he's then done something no other fighter or trainer in terms of papachenko has done and that's overcome the Steward super heavyweight style that has dominated now for decades.
