Just watched this brilliant study of AJ`s fight with Povetkin showing how AJ was trying to set up his right hand with jab to the body and eventually got it right. This content is protected What do you think? Good ring IQ?
Yes i do. He said he wouldnt rush and the oppertunities would come if he stuck to his plan and thats EXACTLY what happened. I was concerned about how much success Povetkin was having up until that point but i just put that down to the Russian being an excellent technical fighter.
AJ is a tremendous finisher. He is also very flawed which makes him compelling viewing. I didn't even notice during the fight the jab to the body to set up what was to come, although I know plenty have pointed it out. Will check it out.
of course he has some ring IQ. Whatever his flaws, he wouldn't be where he is without some ring savvy
He did what Wilder does every fight. Body jab might be new for AJ, but you've been watching them set up straight rights for years. Povetkin was overrated as ****. Joshua is overrated as ****. That was some basic **** and if anyone else did it youse would magically have the eyes to see it for the basic **** it was, but when Pov gets hit by a body jab now it's high level **** and when Josh uses a body jab to set up the right hand it's high level ****. You is boxin' fans doe.
He used the word overrated to much where if he had underrated as well ,overrated would be alright bc using overrated twice with no merit is a no no...
Joshua is probably the best thinker at HW. Hes able to fight on the fly which makes him a great counter puncher able to react to his opponents approach ,hes also an excellent listener and follows corner instructions ( many have trouble doping this, just watch Parkers corner in between rounds) . All in all very high ring IQ IF you actually know what you are looking at, in 22 fights he proved this where even ppl who don't know much about boxing should see how high level he is operating at.
