It's difficult to compare.. one thing for sure Khan was naturally more gifted as a boxer... where as AJ is more of an athlete .. Khan unfortunately lacked dedication after he couldn't secure the Mayweather fight and since then became a part time boxer... and career went downhill.. Khan at one stage was No.1 at WBC 147lbs for 3 years while Maywether was the champion .. since the Canelo loss Khan never been the same ..
having fought no one in the wbc rankings until garcia lol and he is still ranked in the top 15 and kell just brooked him up its well know Khan paid for his WBC ranking he never held a wbc trinket until alegeri ffs
Exactly, people get lost in the details here. AJ suffered what is objectively the most humiliating defeat in boxing history. Nothing else I've seen even comes close.
At least Ruiz wasn't a complete nobody like Prescott was and at least Joshua avenged the loss, Khan didn't even try.
Prescott was a 19-0 KO artist who looked the part Ruiz was a Dustin Nichols deadringer From the perspective of the average viewer, both Prescott and Ruiz were equally unknown. AJ was the poster boy of physical fitness; an Adonis for English plebs to worship, whereas Ruiz looked like the stereotypical obese tomato can that prospects knock over at the start of their careers. AJ was a 6'5 come-forward KO artist, Ruiz was 5'11 and not a prolific puncher. AJ was from a group/nation traditionally associated with heavyweight boxing, Ruiz was not. AJ was an absurdly hyped mega-star and unified world champion at the height of his powers making his American debut in MSG, not a heavily hyped prospect fighting in the MEN arena in Manchester. Social media was a much more powerful force in 2019 than in 2008, inflating the ridicule that AJ could receive relative to Khan several times over. Khan was dropped twice and blown out in 60 seconds but didn't quit, AJ was dropped four times, spat out his mouthpiece and quit in the corner after taking a sustained beating for 4 rounds from the Michelin man. AJ's "avenging" of the Ruiz destruction was almost as farcical as the defeat itself and did nothing to salvage his reputation or his confidence. Khan was able to recover from the defeat and go on to bigger and better things, AJ has not shown any ability to do so thus far.
Joshua has been well marketed by Earn but the reality is that based on his CV and ability shown to date, he is the modern day Herbie Hide. Nowhere near elite level and never will be. No chin, no heart, no stamina, no belief - one more defeat and he replaces Dull Boy Chisora as UK Heavyweight Journeyman.
Obviously AJ has the biggest legacy, 2 time unified champion, was viewed for number 1 in the divison for large period of time, with a better wins over quality opposition (it's not even close).
I can't cosign AJ being a hypejob like A force or Pricey but relative to the fanfare he received, there's no doubt that he's among the biggest hypejobs in boxing history.
As much as I think he's a knob, Khan should rate higher as the first Pakistani origin UK boxer to reach the highest level.
