It's sad that nobody believes in Wilder. Not the WBC, not Haymon, not even his trainers...

Rewatching some of him on yt, he does have a good defence and is able to get inside people and throw some meaty shots. Not easy to land big on or tee off on like a Kingpin type stiff. Maybe I have been too harsh on Takam, still not PPV for me but could have been much worse. A better fighter than Molina anyway.

How are Wilder fanboys knocking Takam when Wilder is defending against

Molina (what were his wins before the Wilder bout?)
    Duhaupas (what were his wins)
    Szpilka (what were his wins)
Arreola (lol shot for 5 years)
    Washington (what were his wins)

For the record Takam would beat everyone of those guys at the time Wilder fought them.

    Wilder wouldn't go near Takam.

As for this fight of Takam vs Joshua. While I fully expect Joshua to stop Takam I have to say it's a good a fight to make on such short notice.
Takam has proven to possess solid skills and while he doesn't have any signature wins he has shown to be very competitive with top 10 talent.

The last minute replacement in Takam is very good, and is better than anyone Wilder has ever fought

That puts into stark reality, how poor Wilders opposition has been and continues to be.

The other reason is that Wilder just wants bums.

That counts out the following from fighting him- Whyte, Parker, AJ, Andy Ruiz Jr, Takam, Povetkin, Ortiz and Pulev. Even the likes of Dubois are off limits for him.

We should stop mentioning Wilders name in relation to actual live bodies.

Takam def gassed against Parker and also showed signs of being hurt in the fight, and I don't overly rate parkers power

As good a stand in as you'll likely get. He might get inside and trouble AJ a little early doors, but I doubt it. This MIGHT be a more entertaining fight than the Pulev one. It is what it is I guess

Interesting fight. Takam is a good replacement with less than two weeks until the fight. Could still be the 2nd best fighter Joshua has fought.

Just so people know, Hearn has decided to make it free on SkySports instead of ppv now.

The sanctioning organizations usually request medical reports and - if found genuine - usually allow one postponement of the mandatory. So Pulev would get another shot at this belt in a good year or so. I think this fight was already postponed but I think it was due to Pulev getting sidestep money to make Wlad vs. AJ II happen.

Now the question is: Will that belt be worth the $4-$5 million Pulev was slated to make if he gets another shot in 12+ months?

Yeah Parker at world level carries no significant power, to be fair it was a tough fight and Parker looked abit rocked at times and gassed in certain portions too.

Takam seems like the sort to stay in shape year-round, so the late notice might not be quite the hurdle it would be to some. Of course, he is stepping in with a naturally athletic beast of a specimen who laps him easily in the agility, speed, and combination punching department, so it'll be an uphill climb no matter what. But he won't gas, and he won't be seeking the softest, cushiest spot on the canvas the second AJ lands, either. He's as physically and mentally durable as they come.

Yes, although the IBF rules are slightly different to the other orgs. If a fighter gets injured that's just too bad, next highest fighter jumps in and Pulev has to wait for the next mandatory in at least a year. So Takam is now the mandatory, Pulev will be waiting a while.

The other orgs usually allow a voluntary defense and then the mandatory immediately after, e.g. Parker vs Fury.

Apparently, according to Michael Benson, Takam has already been in camp for a while preparing for Joshua just in case Pulev pulled out.
