Here's how they break down: Joshua - more skills, better chin, better punch variety, more experience Wilder - faster feet, rangier, quicker recovery ability, more go-for-broke attitude They have comparable power and comparable heart so these won't be a factor for either man except where they impact on Wilder's shaky chin and lack of defensive prowess or Joshua's crappy recovery abilities.
fAkeJay ducked Wilder for a reason. Not saying that the Windmill would have won, but the fight would be a 50/50. The bodybuilder would need to grind Wilder while Bumzquad would only need to land a 1-2 to knock the Nigerian out cold. I am not really sure the recent version of him (after hidings he got from the fastfood abuser and a middleweight) still has the same dog necessary to implement such gameplan to outwork and force a stoppage upon Wilder
Hearn Sr. confirmed the fact that Matchroom did not want the fight. That was when the bodybuilder was still undeafeted.
If you can't recongise that a bigger, heavier, front foot 18st man is going to be able to hit harder than one that is 17stone working of the back foot than I can't help you. Fury has always had a punch but ,under Davidson especially it was more about going rounds boxing and using his skill set. Wlad was a bore fest, stops Wlad's jab and take no risks. A good performance against a long time champ and to give Wlad his credit he hadn't been stopped in years and wasn't untill the AJ fight that he was again. He was told to go rounds against Pianeta as picked up by the ringside mics mid rounds...........so that explains that one. Earlier in his career Fury has show he can KO people with one punch (still the only man to KO USS) but chose to box and use his skills. After the Wallin fight we have seen a heavier, more aggressive Fury and stoppages have followed. Agreed to a point Wilder hasn't faced a great number of huge punchers but he has survived Ortiz hammering him especially in the 2nd fight where he was completely outboxed. by a southpaw counter puncher. Stiverne tagged Wilder a few times in fight one and Wilder took it. His chin isn't the best but it it's better than he's sometimes given credit for. Only Fury has managed to put him over. Wilder has been stopped by an huge agressive Fury, AJ got stopped by a non puncher in Ruiz and was hurt by Usyk late in that fight.
The reason is that boxing skills are not the be all and end all. It's proven by now that fighters with fast hands and power can beat fighters with more skill/training. Natural ability counts too, in speed/timing/power/toughness/determination etc. Example 1: Wlad gets nuked by the fast hands and power of Sanders, despite being bigger and more 'technically schooled'. Example 2: Wilder KD's Fury four times despite Fury having the best skill in the SHW division, due to Wilder's fast hands and power. It's a fact Wilder has hit and badly hurt or KO'd everyone he has faced. And it's a fact AJ gets hit by slower/shorter fighters and doesn't have granite either. So it makes sense that AJ has a good chance of getting nuked. Obviously Wilder can also be hurt and stopped, but it became clear that Wilder has more heart and toughness than AJ, which turns things to his favour in terms of taking shots and surviving. The people who think AJ would just go for the KO with Wilder and take him out are not being realistic. Maybe he would have tried that on a big ego day before Wlad, but still would have a good chance of getting flattened. Post-Wlad AJ is cautious and fearful of getting hurt or stopped and would absolutely not engage Wilder aggressively. This is the fighter who ran from RUIZ! He would stick and move like Ortiz, then eat a big one.
When AJ firstost to Ruiz, compounded with Wilder dropping Fury and then stopping Ortiz, I kinda got sucked into the Wilder hype a bit. But the reality is he's only ever knocked out one currently ranked fighter in the world. And that Luis Ortiz, who is a brilliant fighter, but beating him doesn't translate to beating AJ. Wilder is no Usyk, he's no Ruiz, he's not beating AJ.
Is that a joke? several fighters never got badly hurt by Fury's punches let alone dropped multiple times?
I still want to see this fight. Don't care if belts aren't on the table or the winner is considered #1 in the division. The fight is very interesting to me. Nothing more, nothing less.
AJ ducked wilder? Anybody who still buys that needs their head examined, Wilder ducked AJ to fight Fury because he thought he was ruined after abusing his body and looked bad in his comeback fights, cherry pick gone wrong
how much has the Fury fights taken from Wilder? that is a question that may play a part in an AJ/Wilder bout. Both men have been banged up a bit. Do think that AJ has more in his repertoire to beat Wilder with than the other way around.
