LOL Curtis Cokes didnt train fighters in Houston he ran the Home of Champions gym in Dallas Both Ike & Kirk trained there & at the BMI gym in Ft Worth I saw them almost daily never saw them spar together once.

you may be right about the city ....but curtis cokes told me that kirk johnson beat on ike daily (mind you ike was only 6 and 0 at the time and kirk was a pro much longer ) .....but ill tell you this also = curtis ckes told me ike almost quit against byrd cause he couldnt catch him flush =ike was a headcase dude = beating on sparring partner ezra sellers cause he thought ezra was wearing a ring in his gloves and all paranoid that ezra was trying to cut him before the byrd fight ....after the byrd fight ike was supposed to fight michael grant on hbo and woulda beaten him and then he would have lennox lewis to deal with ....ike went life and death with tua while lennox pitched a shutout ....lennox lewis stops the headcase ike in about 10 rds .....

I always felt sorry for Curtis He was a great trainer had the two guys. Ike & Kirk, capable of winning a HW title by neither made it. Ike jailed on the word of a greedy hooker. Kirk was robbed by Joe Cortez & John Ruiz of the WBA title. Ruiz deserved an Oscar for his acting Cortez should have been fired. He called fouls that weren't fouls ended up DQing Kirk on what should have been a KO win.
