Does anyone seriously think Ken Norton would have any chance against Anthony Joshua of today? Ken Norton 6'3 and 210 pounds. Very good defence yes, but not the best chin even against 70s power heavyweights. Anthony Joshua 6'6 and 250 pounds of solid muscle 100% KO punching machine of the modern era. He has skill, size, speed, chin and power. Does anybody on here think Norton has a chance? How do you even see Norton beating Joshua?
Norton did not cope well with big punching guys rushing him. He would be very vulnerable early. But could A J capitalise? Also Norton was a better athlete, better Engine etc....
As long as AJ didn't catch Kenny early. Norton had a great gas tank, look at how he unloaded the kitchen sink in the 15th round after having went to war with Larry Holmes for the previous 14 tough rounds.. Larry came back with signature moments in the closing seconds of round 15 but Kenny was all over him as soon as the bell rang to start round 15!! AJ was completely gassed after dropping Klitschko in round 5!!!!! If he losses steam like that vs Norton he may be in big trouble. I still think Wlad let him off the hook in round 6. It's a close fight, but Norton is no slouch and if Whyte can buzz Joshua so can Norton. Give me Norton by late round stoppage or AJ early. But my guess is Kennys crab like defense his awkward stance and ability to fight well going backwards and off his back foot keep Joshua honest and prevent the early KO.. Kenny also throws a good left hook which is the punch Whyte shook him with I believe... So Norton has more then enough to keep AJ off and honest.
Lol AJ weighs 250 because he chose to bulk up on PED's. Norton on the other hand chose to weigh lighter because of speed. But if you want to use that logic. AJ was knocked out by a 6'0 200 or so pound Mihai Nistor. Norton also fought in the Modern Era. From the time George Foreman became champion today most heavyweight champions were between 6'3 to 6'6. AJ is extremely crude. He also has a poor chin. If Norton could land first then he could win. If AJ lands first then he could win.
Norton does not even have a punchers chance. From what we have seen Joshua has a very solid chin. It would take a big power punching beast to KO him, which Norton is not. No Norton does not have any realistic chance at all. It would be like a man fighting a small child. AJ would stop him in the opening rounds.
Was really hoping for more comments and votes. I guess Norton and Joshua are not very popular on this forum.
Norton died Four years ago and retired before AJ was born. But you never know there will be some wanky US Federation willing to give Norton a licence.
Anyone who knows anything other than looking at wikipedia and boxrec knows that Norton wasn't a massive puncher on the world stage and most of his kos were against journeymen and lower tier fighters. Anyways.. he struggled with big power houses like Joshua. Styles make fights. Joshua drops Norton several times en route to a brutal KO Inside 7 rounds.
Norton was a nightmare For backfoot boxers. For come forward fighers who can crack, not so much. AJ early KO.
Yes. Wilder fanboys tend to give very little insight, they're usually at the lower end of the intelligence spectrum.
