Potential banana skin for AJ...similar position to David Price before Tony Thompson. Knocking everyone out, loads of hype, and took a step up against an older, more experienced American. Still, I think AJ will win and be the first to stop Kevin within 5 rounds
Thompson had only lost one fight before he fought Price though and that was against Klitschko. Johnson has bean beaten multiple times and even lost to Christan Hammer.
Kevin Johnson is a bum. And he's even worse than he used to be. Very overrated as an opponent, based on the fact that he shamelessly stinks out the place for 10 rounds instead of shamelessly taking a dive in 1 or 2. Joshua should stop him, which people will hype up as some major achievement. It's not Joshua's fault they are matching him with these bums. And certainly he should be applauded for stopping KJ, if only to save the audience from the horrible spectacle of Johnson doing his thing for 10 rounds.
Johnson has lost 4 of his last 5, and the only question is if Joshua can take him out. I think Safetypin has slipped enough, and Joshi has the power to do just that. And comparing him with TT from the Price fight? Seriously...
Thompson is much better then Kingpin. Kingpin fights normally are snoozers (His fight vs Hammer was terrible). He even lost to Manuel Charr. Joshua will beat him, because Kingpin won't be able to win 5 rounds or more. I hope that AJ knocks him out.
You can't compare Thompson to Johnson, completely different types of fighters & TT is better for a start. Thompson is savvy, will put shots together & will go on the offensive. Kingpin doesn't have a high output, is mainly on the defensive, can be tricky and is durable. AJ should win and win well - but he will have to show patience. I think we'll find out a good bit more about his footwork, shot selection & using feints to set his attacks up
I can see AJ pilling on the pressure against Johnson from the 1st bell. Although I would be surprised to see Johnson hit the canvas in a bad way but I can see the referee stepping in a some point if/ when the fight starts to become completely one sided.
AJ will be up for this, that's for sure, and I think a mid-round stoppage is on the cards. Not really a massive step up in opposition, but tbf, its going in the right direction. It will be a confidence booster for AJ while Johnson is on a hiding to nothing really.
