Except he took pugalist specialist to such a ******ed level that it deprived him of being entertaining a lot of the time.
Bruno was pretty bad, AJ`s 1-2 is quicker, it`s a combo Bruno rarely threw and when he did the right hand came years after the jab, AJ has a better uppercut also and is better on the backfoot.
Gerrie Coetzee might disagree. Possibly, but he tends to telegraph this punch, these days. Not particularly convinced AJ is better in this regard, but either way, there's not a lot in it.
Yes, he landed a few very good 1-2`s v Gerry, but the 1-2 that floored Gerry didn`t hurt that much, obviously the right hand that finished Gerry did, but Bruno still looked too stiff in that fight.
The 1-2 that put Gerry down, inside a minute of the first round, effectively ended the fight. Yes, he got up. All credit too him for looking momentarily game after the KD - but he was hurt and tentative from then on. Bruno was all too easily pushing him back with the jab (which he tripled up on, soon after the KD). Another 1-2 pushed Coetzee to the ropes and under pressure again. The end came with as good a finish as you will see in Heavyweight Boxing. I would say Bruno is better than you give him credit for. I don't think Joshua separates himself in any obvious way. But that's just my opinion.
Compared to the modern era Lewis is overrated. He was the big Guy back then. Now he Would be slightly above average. That is a Huge part of boxing. If Joshua fought Lewis competition I dont think he Would do that much worse. And of you threw in Lewis against todays comp he Would definitely look worse.
Lewis had an 84 inch reach, Fury has an 85 inch reach Wilder 83 inches and AJ 82 inches, AJ has never fought a fighter with a jab as long as Lewis`s and is only an inch taller. Tony Tucker was 6`5 with an 82 inch reach.
I am one of the few people who find Lewis overrated and HATE him here but i gotta disagree. Few of Lewis's opponents would knock Joshua out and some would have 50/50 chances against him. Btw, i think Joshua's CV is better than Fury. I don't see Joshua beating Vitali or Mercer (Mercer deserved the decision against Lewis) who Lewis fought in any way. Even Granite McCall with his limited skillset might catch Joshua off guard and knock him out.
One or two inches dont mean that much. His footspeed at 240+ was not that Good. Its easier fighting a small and slow plodder like David tua Than a Guy of your own Size like Vitali Klitschko.
Most of AJ`s punches are thrown from the outside, his best shot is his right hand so reach would be all important.
