Anthony Joshua vs. Malik Scott.

Scott is able to pull off the slick cutie pie stuff with typical slow heavyweights. An explosive destroyer like Joshua isn't going to find him all that difficult to catch. Scott is a mover but just doesn't have the foot speed to get away from Joshua and his jab will not save him. Joshua walked through power shots from Whyte (unproven, granted, but I think we can safely assume he's got more heft in his stroke than Scott), he isn't going to rein up because someone is throwing a technically very pretty and crisp but still not almighty powerful bone-crunching jab his way.

 

Oh no, this match-up is fine - logical and totally appropriate next move for Joshua. I just don't give Scott much chance.

 

PPV sell wise is a trickier sell than Chisora.

 

Yeah, nobody in the UK will care about Joshua vs. Scott but they'll eat Joshua vs. Chisora up despite it being maybe as much of a mismatch.

 

Chisora gets him on the map more for UK fans.

Casuals will be asking who Scott is an saying he's fighting another bum

 

especially when they google malik scott and they see that chisora ko'd him in 6 rounds. i know it was a funny stoppage like malik misread the count but the casual fan would just see that chisora ko'd him.

i would personally like to see joshua in with helenius/thompson i think both of them are winnable fights and he would learn more against both. chisora showed when he fought helenius that he isn't the best out there and thompson is around 45 and they can build the fight off the back of him beating price twice.

I really don't see it going all that differently than the Kingpin fight..... Maybe a couple of more rounds, maybe less... But the result all the same. Joshua will laugh at his pathetic slaps and KO him.

I think Joshua stops Scott and I agree with a lot of posts, the casuals won't be interested in this fight, Joshua vs chisora would be bigger

Chisora vs Joshua is clearly a big fight than Scott vs AJ, not least because Chisora KOd Scott!

I understand styles make fights and Joshua is I think, always going to have problems with movement, but Scott has no heart and no chin so his jab and movement will be negated easily and Joshua, like Chisora should be able to beast through him after being made to look a bit novice like for a couple of rounds.

Hughie Fury being taller, considerably younger, faster etc I could see giving Joshua fits and busting him up and making him look silly. Eddie Hearn literally never, ever mentions Hughie Fury as an opponent for Joshua - despite it being a natural fight to make - which I think says everything about the perceived risk level to Joshua.

Chisora next for PPV in my opinion or they are struggling. Joshua is wide open to bodyshots (Chisora's money punch), has a good chin and can close the distance and get inside well and Joshua doesn't really have any kind of jab, so I can see it being a really good fight that AJ should win but with a few problems.

 

Completely agree with this. Whether Hughie is top notch is not clear, although the Rudenko fight was promising. He would certainly have the size to cope with Joshua and he works the body well which we know Joshua is exposed. Won't happen though

 

because scott is tall and a mover it makes sense to have joshua fight him
only thing is fans might get cheated if scott gits hit in the first with a glancing blow and goes down for the count.

no way was that deontay wilder shot clean /and giving scott the benefit of the doubt from a dive for money /he simply did not fancy it and took an easy way out

its a no win fight for joshua but he will have many of these type fights because of the hype around him.

Scott maybe has the skills to make it difficult for Joshua, but he has no heart nor chin and will fall down by the first power shot Joshua lands.

 

Hearn has got to be careful with making AJ exclusively PPV. To keep the casuals (I hate that term but will go with it) engaged with the Joshua journey, a fight featured on a regular Sky Sports channel might be in order, against an opponent he can easily destroy. Scott fits the bill. Good call. The dollar signs were spinning with Hearn straight after the AJ v Whyte PPV numbers but he's got to be careful not to marginalise his 'commodity'.
