    This wouldn't even be close.
Prime Ali would be too fast of hand and foot for Joshua to get anywhere near him.
Ali would box his head off and don't underestimate Ali's power.
I like Joshua but he's fought nobody, he's got a lot to prove before he can remotely be spoken of in the same breath as Ali.
It's threads like this that expose how completely clueless some posters are on here.

Yes Ali was so fast of hand and foot than he won every single round against Mildenberger? lol. Imagine how easy of a fight Mildenberger would be for Joshua. Can you seriously say AJ would have as hard a time with him as Ali did?

You're underrating the huge difference in speed, and overrating the difference in height and reach.

A lot of guys on here are blinded by size.

Let me tell you: It's not ALWAYS an advantage. It depends on who you're fighting.

At this stage, how could the smart money be on Joshua?

    Based on what??

Let his career progress and then do a breakdown.

I like him, but as yet, he's done nothing.

Yes you are right Roy Jones would clearly be much faster than AJ, maybe he has a chance of beating him too? Look Ali himself was bigger than 90% of heavyweights he fought. Ali did not beat Patterson because he was quicker, or more skilled.

It does seem like it. People are living in a time warp.

This post just shows your lack of knowledge.

    1. When Ali was Clay, he was a brash young man who underestimated Henry.

    2. Ali always had more issues with smaller fighters. Styles make fights.

    3. In a fantasy fight, AJ may have crushed Cooper. But their styles are completeley different. Would AJ have ever found himself in that same position where he could have executed that left hook? Foreman destroyed Frazier. Frazier gave Ali the hardest fights of his career. Yet we know what happened when Ali fought Foreman.

    4. Mildenburger was a southpaw who also fought nothing like AJ.

    5. Mildenburger was part of Ali's European tour where he was fighting scheduled 15 round fights once per month.

Give us an actual breakdown that's logical, based on Ali being at his best, fighting to his full capabilities. Because what you've wrote tells us nothing.

You might as well bring up Doug Jones and say: "Jones gave Ali a tough fight, yet AJ would have crushed him, therefore...."

Unless AJ has a similar style to Henry Cooper and Karl Mildenburger, those guys are of no relevance here.

What you should be asking is: How would a guy of AJ's size, be able to set himself and time Ali's constant movement? Ali would have been on his toes, feinting, circling, jumping in and out range. At this moment in time, where's the evidence to suggest that AJ could have dealt with that? AJ's awesome physique could actually have worked against him here. He's carrying around an awful lot of mass similar to Frank Bruno. I actually think he'd benefit by dropping a few pounds.

    Based on what?

How would he have coped with Ali's footwork?

The hand and foot speed between the 2 are not even comparable.

AJ isn't a blend of Tyson and Lewis. What the hell are you talking about?

    You want to talk reality?

The reality is: AJ has done nothing yet.

Bump the thread in a few years.

You haven't come up with a sensible explination of how AJ would even have landed these bulldozing shots on a peak Ali.

    A one sided beat down?

Also: Why have you even made the thread asking for people's opinions?

    1. You've already made your mind up.

    2. You're clearly not interested in other people's opinions.

    Congratulations on another great post.

Pull your pants down and have a look at how significant 3 inches would have been in this match up.

    It would have been nothing.

Ali would have frustrated him and emptied his gas tank.

You guys have yet to work out that being bigger and heavier isn't always an advantage.

    First few rounds?

    Ha!

    Please!

Yeah, I'm sure Ali would have been glued to the canvas, and AJ would have steamrollered him straight away.

Each post you make is more ignorant than the previous one.

Do you not understand the difficulties AJ would have had in moving his huge frame around the ring, against one of the fastest HW's of all time, with incredible footwork and reflexes?

    AJ is huge.

    He's powerful.

    He's fast for his size.

    BUT:

He hasn't got great footwork, and he has nowhere near the hand speed of Ali.

Your theories are based on IF AJ would have landed flush.

Tell us how exactly he'd have done that?

Ali would have respected his power and he'd have been on his toes of every second of every round, darting in and out of range.

Breakdown for us how AJ would have timed him. Give us some examples. All we've had so far is size comparisons.

    What a horrible post.

    Is that all you've got?

    Pathetic.
