Well......Ali for me. Still believe he could beat every heavyweight who ever lived.

In his prime could dance, box and fight flat out for over 15 rounds. Adapted to every boxer he faced.

However he never faced the super heavy's such as Klitchsko's, Bowe, Lewis, Fury and Joshua of course.

Pound for pound he is a better fighter than all the above mentioned, however their strength and power has to be taken into account.
Bowe and Lewis were the were quick, but not in Ali's level.
Now Joshua is the only name mentioned on this list who has never been past 7 rounds, let alone boxed a word class opponent! Without doubt Joshua could finish off any man if he had them on the end of one of his assaults. Is he going to get Ali on the ropes while chasing him around the ring before getting caught with accurate jabs and left hooks before walking onto solid right crosses?!
What happens if it goes beyond the 7th round? Now remember Lawrence Okollie chinned Joshua (albeit in sparring). So Ali, one of the most unique fighters who ever lived and weighed heavier couldn't do it?

Joshua still has time to improve, he is not the finished article by any means, he is exciting to watch and arguably the most dangerous heavyweight in boxing. There are a lot of unanswered questions though. In my mind without doubt The Great Muhammad Ali, at 6 ft 3 weighing around 215lbs has the beating of Anthony Joshua.

This is the part that casts the biggest doubt over AJ to me. Joshua did run out of gas pretty early against whyte (albeit only temporarily, 2nd wind?) and traditionally his physique has not proved optimal for a heavyweight boxer. I do, however agree with GALVATRON that Ali's defence is not very sophisticated and the more fleet of foot dancing version would then be even lighter, so….?

I doesn't matter of course and we can never know for sure. Your post contained a couple of clues as to why, especially when it comes to Ali, fans will be resistant to opinion which challenge the established, popular view.

Only if I CLAIMED to be an EXPERT like or was a noted one who CLAIMED as such however im neither a author or publisist on so called EXPERT journalistt for boxing...theres plenty of them!Of course only a FOOL claims to be an EXPERT in combat or knowing about it as it is never ending learning process...i would KNOW!

I would pit my own knowledge against ANYONE when it comes ot HW's....My uncle happened to train Bowe as a kid in the amateurs/PAL golden gloves for a BRIEF period. Ironically before i even studied boxing he ALWAYS drilled into me Mike Tyson couldn't BOX,no jab ( false )..etc..etc and that like MANY Ali was unbeatable?? Go figure. Do you think at even age 16 i listened to him? No,because ANY one who STUDIED or saw Tyson KNEW the guy was a master counter puncher and arguably the hardest guy to land a punch on in Hw history UNDER Rooney. Point is trainers/fighters /fans are under the same roof when you ACTUALLY LOOK at what you are talking about would also see through smoke and mirrors which is going on here.

It also happens to be this VERY day when the vid was posted given that day that Ali fought Jones. It was his 18th fight and STRUGGLED against him.Do you see where this is going? Joshua has 18 fights and has just caught one moment of a left hook against a FAR bigger stronger dangerous guy and wiped him out. Joshuas 17th fight consisted of a 6'7 giant who could punch and weighed 250 pounds and with EVERY fight gets sharper /more dangerous.

The vid below is of Ali vs Jones in his 18th fight...do you really think Ali in 18 fights matches Joshua in his ? ( you go by fights not years)...just LOOK....you even mentioned stamina right? Well LOOK there also in the VERY vid below and see who LOOKS tired. Do you think anyone here would bet a 200 pound Ali OR Jones at 185 here? I DOUBT it and so would they.

This is only an example of how ridiculous these posters are,in fact NO version of ALI COULD be favored over Joshua NOW and hes only about 80% of his skills at this point! If ANYONE watched this entire fight they would clearly see how much far ahead Joshua is in skills than Ali even at the same point!,unless they have an agenda which clearly THEY do.

So he got careless played around and gave Cooper a free shot.
He was up at 4 and busted Cooper up and stopped him in the next round.
I prefer to dwell on his superbly disciplined performance in his next fight against one of the hardest punching and most feared heavyweights ever.
That ATG you mention got beat off Tyson Fury.

Doug Jones had knockout wins over Zora Folley, Bob Foster, and Bobo Olson. Along with being in the ring with Eddie Machen and fought atg Harold Johnson for a world title. All before he fought Ali.

That's better than anyone that Anthony Joshua has on his resume.

You are missing two very good points:

    1. Doug Jones was a very good fighter

    2. Breazeale is quite a poor fighter

Doug Jones is an infinitely better fighter than anyone on Joshua's resume.

Im sure you would rather look at the the areas that suit rather than the whole picture.
Ali got up against Cooper but was badly hurt and looked fortunate that it was at the end of the round as well as having the glove change.
Yes Wlad had lost to Fury who is a big undefeated, talented fighter. Liston had also lost to M Marshall

Yes let's all pretend Doug Jones would have any chance against Whyte, Breazeale, Martin or even Molina. Lol!

    Do you know anything?
The glove change is one of the biggest myths in boxing, it simply never happened.
Ali got between another 3 to 5 seconds extra between the rounds, it's all there on film.
So in his next fight he goes in against a monster puncher, was never hurt and won the title but you choose to concentrate on the negative.
And by the way 13 stone or no 13 stone fighter, Cooper could take your head off with his left hook.
