It will definitely make him more flat-footed over the course of the fight, which will force him to work more on upper-body movement and parries to evade/defend against strikes and get himself into position land counters. It might also slow his hands down. On the plus side, having his feet more firmly rooted will give him a slight increase in power, and he'll be less likely to be ragdolled in the clinch. He should still be able to dart in and out and side to side when needed, but being heavier he won't be able to keep it up for as long so will need to pick his chances better. He's a naturally big guy though so provided he packs on the weight sensibly he should still retain most of his athletic traits. I'm not massively in favour of him coming in at potentially around 230, but if Usyk doesn't feel comfortable at that weight I trust he'll alter his training.
I really do not care about what kind of idea you have or no, while you had just copied my post and with big pride had posted that you have no idea. There is not even talk about these A.J and Usyk, people here who really had followed fights at HW TOP15 during 10+ years in row easily had get what stuff is at HW. Looks that you are more just some boxers fan not a boxing fan at all and did not had followed this division in depth. For you all you need are some superstars and nothing more, you do not need highly competitive division to be happy.
AJ should be at least a 3-1 favorite to win the fight. He's simply too big, too long and too strong. It should be enough to offset the skill advantage that Usyk has. AJ needs only 1 flush shot to knock down Usyk, while Usky needs at least 5 to have the same effect.
I don't think that Usyk at 230 lbs might be look like blob. Haye at 217 lbs looked very muscular, with low fat percentage. Usyk's frame is even a bit larger than Povetkin's frame and at 217 lbs he looked with easily visible sixpack, muscles and pretty lean. Most likely this even was not extra added weight, just he does not needs diet regimen in order to be ready make CW weight in in limits. Usyk's skeleton ( frame ) is larger than Huck's and Briedis frame too and there is something interesting. Why? Huck had competed at CW and had notable fight at HW vs Povetkin, where he weighted in at approx 209 lbs ( probably also this was close his weight in the ring at CW ), did not looked like any added weight, pretty muscular. Briedis looked more a bit fatty with 213-214 lbs weight in weight for HW fights and surprisingly was more mobile than CW weight in limit fights. _________ I think 215-217 lbs looked not bulked up but just really normal Usyk version. How might impact added weight above approx 217 lbs I do not know. We will see. There are also 3 variants why Usyk had added weight till 230 lbs plus. 1. He just accumulate fat in order to train very hard in pre fight camp with intense regimen. If so, then fat will be burned out providing him extra energy for training ( fat generates calories when is burned out with hard work load ). 2. He wish to add a bit weight and part of added weight will be trimmed down during pre fight camp. 3. Usyk does have intent to come in at 230 lbs +. We will see at weight ins.
BTW at least some new breath in very stagnant division. Last proof how stagnant this division is was: we did not had get even Hunter vs Hrgovic, not alone looks that Fury vs A.J will not happen this year. Then at least Usyk. Also, sorry, Chisora usually does gets critic, like so much lost fights and on ppvs etc. There is reason, without boxers like Chisora most likely sadly even Parker and Usyk did not had get their last fights happened. Boxers more talk and negotiate, their managers and teams too, promoters too. Yeah, at HW even long before covid era top ranked boxers fights not often.
This deal also includes a comeback fight for usky....? So does this mean we're getting a rematch immediately regardless of the outcome?
Most likely only if Usyk will win this one. Nothing wrong, Wilder or Fury probably will deliver him in clinic, hometown natural juice might not help here for bodybuilder. When he had been tested in US, he performed like piece of s ******t.
Surname wise record really is good. Problem is that these good opponents maybe were geriatric. For example big pride for A.J fans is fight vs ring rusty 39 y.o Pulev, ring rusty out of retirement 41 y.o Wlad, 39 y.o Povetkin version and this is what this really is here and always will be. Not over the hill he had most likely Whyte, Parker and Ruiz Jr. from real top 10.
Again with age... you always bring up age... not quality. -.- Who was better 41 year old Wlad, or 30 year old Whyte? Being old means you may be past your prime, but it doesn't mean you're worse than young fighters. Having younger fighters on your record doesn't automatically make it more impressive. 41 yo Wlad is still better than anyone outside the top 2 now.
