Surely DAZN US rights is a formality? Wilder has no broadcast affiliation, there's no fighter TR promote on there (aside from co-promoting Makhmudov I believe?). Cannot see DAZN letting AJ and Bivol get on there if they've not at least got US exclusivity? Might well be wrong though.
Be funny if it went to auction, and after all the Frank and Eddie chat, Sky Sports nipped in for it...
Just because it’ll be on TNT in the UK doesn’t necessarily mean that Queensberry is the promoter of the event. I’m very looking forward to Joshua vs Wallin as a lot of people here seem to think Wallin has a chance and that it will be competitive. I personally don’t think it’ll be competitive and that Joshua will stop Wallin from 9-12 but let’s see. This is a good move for DAZN if they can get the worldwide rights including the US and then withdraw from the UK rights taking some money off the Saudis instead. All roads lead to Joshua vs Wilder on DAZN globally next year. I’m sure that the Saudi guy running this event has had informal talks with Joshua and Wilder’s teams about them fighting each other next year, or otherwise it wouldn’t make sense for them to be the two main fights on the same card. Seems like a lot of fights on the same bill though. Joshua, Wilder, Sanchez, Opetaia, Bivol, Makhmudov, Dubois all expected on the card.
It'll be a fun card. Probably the most big-name fighters in one card for a long time. Joshua-Wallin and Wilder-Parker would be PPV headliners any other week (rightly or wrongly - they just would). Opetaia and Bivol would be top of the bill most other nights. Dubois and Sanchez are in the 'bubbling under' category but are well-known. It doesn't really matter if they're fighting bums on the undercard. Stick Campbell Hatton in the opener and I'll be a happy man.
Doesn't Frank have exclusivity rights for TNT? Which was a big part of the DAZN purchase falling through
The only guys Joshua stops are shot to pieces old men. Last six seven years show us this. Wallin is more likely to make Joshua JACK IT again.
The Promoters are the Saudis. Queensbury are taking the lead with organisation of the event..apparently. This works for all involved, I’m glad the Saudis have pulled everybody together and said “fcuk your politics, this is what we want, here’s the money, get it done without fail”
I’m not mad at the fight, Joshua stops him easily I think. Undercard looks stacked Wilder Parker should be good too
Does render the DAZN UK subscription a pile of junk with another Eddie Hearn promise not being met. He claimed 'there would be no Box Office and Joshua fights would be part of the subscription' in March 2023. 'Trust us, we will offer unprecedented value' also followed after the line above. DAZN UK subscribers wondering where did it all go Pete Tong? The answer is the day they parted with the annual subscription money.
The Saudi’s has the whole rights so will be auctioning them off to the highest bidder/bidder who will draw the most eyes. Hearing how smug Warren has been over this, think it’s a guarantee that TNT have the UK rights. Apparently SKY still fancy themselves having a sniff though. In the US with the timing ESPN or Showtime might not be interested. They’re not going to pay a premium for something which isn’t going to draw in the numbers.
It would have been PPV on DAZN in the UK so wouldn’t make a difference to the existing subscribers. I presume will be on DAZN everywhere else including the US. It’s not a bad move as DAZN will be paid some money to not have the UK rights as Joshua is exclusive to DAZN. It will also hype up a Joshua vs Wilder fight which would be on DAZN globally for sure. Anyway as long as this card is delivered no one cares what platform is on. Hopefully it isn’t more than £24.
Yeah. My point that I was making was that though it doesn't mean that it's a Queensberry show, just that it is on TNT Box Office and Warren is the chief organiser.
