I actually was surprised by the standard of the opponent for his first fight. Hopefully they'll be trying to move him on quite quickly like lewis was, and not go the way Price went.
Lewis fought plenty of bums for which he was given grief, he just did it quickly. Winning a Euro title in two years and beating unbeaten world ranked top 5 opposition inside three years...
Can't really say this is a test, but cant really complain this early on about the caliber of opposition it is after all only Joshuas second pro fight. but this is a very safe fight, Butlin is 14-19 with only 3 KOs if he at least had some power this might be a good test.
No disrespect intended, but why do you want a fighter who will then be a three week novice pro, tested?
I too was surprised how bad the opponent was as well, 8-0 but God knows how, could barely move or throw a punch correctly. Genius scouting and matchmaking by Hearn. Paul Butlin might give him a few rounds so not a bad fight but there is no danger here and its nothing to look forward to. Its good to see Joshua getting the fights in though, it can only help him.
Fights with his chin in the air he's another Price waiting to happen unless he can sort some of his defensive frailties out. it may take a few knockouts Lewis/Wlad-esque for him to realise these, hopefully i am wrong tho and he can sort these out sharpish
He would hammer us two inside the time it took Joshua to beat him! He was not 'atrocious', he was just was matched too harshly.
I think Leo had never boxed outside of one region of Italy and he'd had eight fights in four years. So he had an unbeaten record but frankly posed no real threat to Joshua at all.
