Holmes wins a UD or late stoppage depending on the amount of rounds IMO, but not nearly as easily as people seem to think. Holmes beats him similarly to how Usyk did by using his speed and mobility advantage to befuddle Joshua, but I also think Joshua would pose similar challenges to Holmes as Cooney did except I would consider AJ to be a better overall fighter than Cooney

Lewis is clearly an ATG HW. However don't think he easily beats Holmes, but I'd favor LL over Holmes.

As I'm typing this it's 28-0 in favor of Holmes over AJ. This is ridiculous. I could accept a 2:1 or even 3:1 votes favoring Holmes but 28-0?? It took Holmes 13 rounds to stop mediocre engine, poor defense Cooney... and Gerry won more than a few rounds. But Holmes will beat AJ 10 of 10 :shakehead: The amount of bias in favor of these old time 70s & 80s HWs is absurd. AJ has a good punchers chance to stop Holmes. Sure Cooney had a huge left, but AJ has roughly equal power w/ more punching variety. AJ is also moderately bigger than Cooney. I agree Holmes had a better jab. AJ is longer, stronger, much heavier with greater power than Larry. According to the voting so far, that adds up to AJ having no chance

Whatever will help to calm down your insecurity about Holmes. If the only argument is a Mercer fight..... then I don't keep going.

Lewis is a stylistic nightmare for every HW.... and he will Always find a way to win. Agaist every boxer in the history of Boxing.

Holmes would knock Lewis's head off in his prime.
No boxer ever knocked out a prime Holmes.

Let's be real. You claim childishly that Lewis will always find a win against any HW in history, but in a real life he didn't find a win against two (far from great) opponents and was knocked out.

There are no unbeatable boxers in the history of this sport.

AJ would give him some hard moments and force Holmes to earn his money, but Holmes rallies and stops him late or wins a convincing UD

With a bat and from behind. Maybe a nice drop kick off a car.

If you mean in the ring the answer is: Anyway he wants and Joshua still loses.

    LOL yep.

When I picture this fight in my mind, I just see Larry Holmes dominating with that jab I really can't see it any other way.

Usyk did it twice. Based on that, I don’t see why Holmes couldn’t do it.

I've never been entirely sold on AJ but I do believe he KO's Holmes. Mike Tyson slumped him pretty easily. AJ hits harder than Tyson and has a much greater reach. It probably looks like the Pulev fight.

Holmes doesn't have the power to punish AJ enough before getting slumped. AJ can take some hits, he doesn't have the best chin but the vulnerability is mainly about him being mentally weak. Physically he's still very big, so naturally absorbs some damage. Holmes doesn't hit as hard as Povetkin, Helenius, Whyte, and probably Uysk and AJ took shots from those. Holmes also isn't fast enough to avoid AJ, who is quite quick, partly due to the low weight of his cranium.

AJ is obviously massively inferior to someone like Usyk, despite the incredible size and bulk advantage. But Holmes isn't Uysk, is he?

AJ by KO between rounds 6-10. Hall of fame secured.

The only thing I disagree with is the 58-2 vote in favor of Holmes.
Holmes isn't all that overpowered compared to AJ.

Let’s be honest it’s criminal how under rated Larry Holmes is,he is one of a few Heavyweight fighters who could compete with the best from any era and more than likely be victorious .As well as his skill set and that brilliant jab,Holmes also had remarkable recovery powers as seen a few times during his career . Just look at those poll results to see how Holmes is rated by true Boxing fans, those numbers don’t lie .
