I am not so sure about that!

Baer got away with his style, for the same reason as Wilder.

    He had god given reflexes!

    Baer would smash him late.

Baer got away with it because he had power, a great chin, and fought the vast majority of his fights against guys who weren't even 205 pounds!

I am no Baer fan but one thing is for sure AJ would not go after him as Louis did......he would be doing the jack rabbit running thing and afterwards fans would claim he put on a master class.

Yesterday AJ fought a complete non entity no show who trained full time at a taco stand with wobbling slabs of bacon on his back and yet AJ ran a wide eyed track event .....

Ruiz didn’t throw much but Joshua knew he was waiting to counter him with hard, fast punches.

Ruiz showed nothing to me. Nothing more than a heavy bag in there. Adleast Bear would try an take your head off. Even though I'm no fan of Baer the man had a mean streak when he wanted to let it out. Ruiz looked like an utter joke then had the balls to ask for a rematch saying he'll come in In better condition! He had the title! Are you ####### kidding me lol...what a disgrace. Adleast two ton Tony came to fight and let his hands go. Same cant be said for Ruiz

Max Baer was in a movie, AJ wasn't. Therefore, you have to install Maxie as the favorite!

I hear you but I think Ruiz would’ve showed a lot more if Joshua had stood his ground more. He couldn’t deal with Joshua’s size and foot speed, and he’s never been an aggressive, balls to the wall brawler. He’s a counterpunching stalker who looks for openings, and Joshua didn’t give him very many.

I think Ruiz is being sold short because of his physique. I bet he would look plenty dangerous against someone more aggressive. Foot speed is always going to be a problem for him, if a fighter chooses not to open up and engage.

I think any version of Ruiz runs through Galento like a truck.

Come on man.....he was close to 300 pounds on a 6 foot frame........watch the Parker fight and the difference in agility and snap is night and day.......he was in no way in any kind of fighting form.....the reason he went 12 is because AJ never pressed protecting his fragile chin.

I hear you. I was actually just watching the early rounds of the Parker fight. He definitely looked more energetic. But Ruiz’s slow foot speed really hurt him in that fight too. He didn’t really move any faster imo. He was a lot more aggressive in spots, lunging in with hooks, etc., but probably mostly because he knew Parker wouldn’t make him pay. And Parker leaned forward a lot more, and stood on the ropes more than Joshua did this fight. And even in that fight, the commentators noted that Ruiz wasn’t really opening up when he got within his range.

Maybe I’ll change my mind when I finish watching the Parker fight, but given his plodding footwork and style of fighting, I’m skeptical that the extra weight made much of a difference.

I never put anything into a fighters physique. I'm sure you dont either. I do believe alot of half ### boxing fans were sucked into thinking Joshua was damn near invincible because of his physique. Sad but true. Anyway its Ruiz not making any adjustments and letting his hands go that had me steamed. The reason I threw Galento's name in there was because he is also a very overweight fighter but he comes in and imposes his will and let's his hands go. Ruiz was the HW Champion and he gave that up like a mouse. Just disgusting to me that's all. I'm thinking Baer shows up to fight something Ruiz didnt. That's basically what I'm trying to say. I do think he'd beat him too. IMO

Baer is the Wilder of his day. Outboxing him doesn't impress me at all.

Maybe people don't watch the footage and make comparisons from memory. I've been caught out like that before myself to be honest.

Clearly Ruiz is faster than Baer.
