    15 rounds. 50s ref.

This is going to be one of those poll threads l've broken down by whether respondents have had at least one amateur or pro boxing match.

    Who wins? And why?

Marciano far too small, no fighter with a 68 inch reach could beat AJ.

Clash of size, clash of styles, clash of rules. A shorter bout (12 rounds) and refs that are quicker to stop bouts due to bad cuts or too many unanswered punches also reduce Rocky's already slim chances.

I really don't see how a short fighter who can only come forward, giving up at least 60 lbs, who had leaky defense, is going to beat a hard punching titan with a good jab, good fundamentals, and a wide variety of punches. It would require Hollywood level, once in a century circumstances for Rocky to win. Joshua wins by TKO within 4 or less any day of the week.

    Had two matches.

I've got all the time and respect in the world for Rocky, but AJ is too much, imo.
AJ has his issues as a fighter, but really, a lot is being asked of Marciano here.

Weren't both cancelled... No shows or something?

I'd say Rocky has shown more finesse then AJ ever has, I also don't think naturally Ruiz is much bigger then Marciano he is morbidly obese and "6ft2" mans 5ft11 or 6ft... I really think the Rock has a chance.

Rocky is the better fighter, but the size difference is just too much. Like a cape Buffalo trying to head butt an elephant.

Ruiz may or may not have been naturally the same size as Rocky. But he knows how to use all that blubber to his advantage and put weight into those quick combinations. We'll probably never know how Rocky would do against a guy Joshuas size and the safest bet is that an aggressive short slugger giving up 60 lbs loses to a strong hard hitting guy. There may be a gap in skill, but not a huge one. If this was Rocky vs David Price or Chris Areola I wouldn't hesitate to pick Rocky.

The height exaggeration issue is well taken, but leads to the further question of whether heavyweights were lying about their heights in Rocky's era, too.

For all we know, a fight between Marciano and Joshua would be an epic battle between a 6'1" bodybuilder and a 5'6" cardio fanatic.

As much as I’d like to favor Rocky I just don’t think I can.

AJ would out-jab any fighter with a 68 inch reach.

Does there come a point even among heavyweights where size just becomes a determining factor even if one fighter is more skilled than the other?

That`s 3 inches more! Marciano was tiny compared to AJ.

Tyson was of similar stature and reach. Lot more muscular of course but only about 215lbs in his prime. I also think Ezzard, Walcott and Moore put AJ out like a light if that means anything to you.
