A Prime Mercer would have knocked Joshua out! I saw him beat Lennox Lewis, lost a split decision, but should have won...................

I think AJ would be a tough fight for a prime Ali, but think Mercer would be an opponent that would make a prime Ali look invincible but on the other hand think Mercer would give AJ a tough fight.

Joshua would not fight a safe fight like all the other guys excluding Holyfield and Klitchko both of whom showed what will eventually happen if you don't run out of steam and keep going for the K.O against Mercer if you hit hard enough to do so and we all know Joshua does.

This would be Joshua and not a 2 week preparation one either. Take the Joshua now after that Takam fight he would do the exact same thing to Mercer who is about the dimensions of Takam. He batters Mercer and puts him down sooner than Holyfield did but he stays down.

Not sure if Mercer would be busy enough to make Joshua gas and force a stoppage. Mercer was never the best conditioned fighter himself, even in the Lewis fight he fought in spurts which is why he lost the decision.

But in the circumstances with Lewis, I see Mercer still doing enough to out point Joshua in a tiny ring. Joshua doesn't move well and in that kid's sized ring he'd struggle to keep Mercer off him and the Mercer jab would cause all kinds of problems. Joshua as well doesn't clinch he trades too much on the inside, I think this would see him get caught too much and lose a decision.

But I think it's very competitive. Joshua would land a lot on Mercer but he won't be able to put him away, prime Mercer is too durable to be stopped even by a puncher like Joshua.
