Better shape or not, AJ looked good because Ruiz was in worse shape.

Why is it bad? What you posted is generally true, but you did a bit of a straw man here. There are other in close tactics.

Fury is much more capable than Ruiz of leaning on AJ during the clinches. Are you saying there will be very little clinching or AJ has such an engine that a 270+lb Fury leaning on him won't have an effect? Well then, that's bad.

Fury coming in at 270 is already a bad sign. Fury is actually slower than Kubrat Pulev at that weight not even joking. Watch the Wilder rematch and you'll be surprised by how sloppy and slow he was. The only thing that really stood out was his dominant Kronk Jab. He was lucky Wilder cant throw crisp combos and even then Wilder landed some glancing blows a few times.

If his plan is to clinch and lean in Aj in the clinches, he's eventually going to get caught trying to march forward against Aj. Aj is not only bigger than Wilder but physically a lot stronger and he can throw more than a right straight. He's got better balance and better coordination as well. Wilder had a balance problem in the early rounds. He missed his right hand and almost slipped lol

From what I've seen, it seems quite clear that AJ will look to hurt Fury to the body. He seems to be launching assaults on the punching bag in a way that suggests that will happen.

What do people reckon about that strategy? AJ hurting the body and then going for the KO when Fury is slowed down enough?

    Wilder punches harder than AJ.

That will be vital, Fury has stated he might go to AJ`s body too, AJ has bad stamina.

You’re ignoring the fact that Fury will have a 250lb bloke whose built like a bull throwing him off and tying him up!

It’s almost irredentist anyway because Fury won’t want to get that close to Joshua

Wilder has one punch that’s harder than AJs shots but he needs time & distance to throw it which means he telegraphs it and that why Fury stepped in close or easily moved out of the way.

Joshua has far far more power per shot than Wilder, he hits hard with the jab and can knock you down/out with a variety of shots at mid or close range let alone a long straight 1-2 or right cross. He presents a much greater threat than Wilder because of this coupled to his greater boxing IQ ability’s

I saw a video on Youtube some year ago where they compared their Strength training and overall physique. Former sparring partners who said Fury were the naturally stronger guy overall round after round.

Not to be political, but I think we're both making valid points.
Many in this topic state that: AJ is stronger, moves better, has a better variety of punches and combos, is a better in fighter, and hits almost as hard as Wilder. If that's the case, then why were the negotiations so difficult between AJs and Wilder's sides? Some of you are suggesting that AJ would be an overwhelming favorite over Wilder.

If that's true - and maybe it is - why didn't Eddie or AJ jump at the chance to become undisputed?? AJ fans think Wilder was ducking AJ, but Wilder fans think the reverse. What's the truth?

Joshua outmuscled the notoriously strong Wlad Klistchko, that was an eye opener for me. Joshua also outmuscled Pulev and everyone else he's fought.

When Joshua has a full tank I don't think there is anyone who can outmuscle him in the clinch. When he runs out of gas though, he becomes very weak.

Joshua couldn't subdue Ruiz in the clinch because Joshua was badly concussed, moving around the ring like a drunk man. Also it helps that Ruiz is 6 feet tall and 265+ pounds, low centre of gravity.

I think the clinch game will be even 4-5 rounds but then Joshuas explosiveness will start to fade.
