As yet another statement is released stating that Deontay Wilder's team are set to delay the fight a further year. Alternatively pushing for an Ortiz rematch followed by a potential match up with Kownacki. It is beginning to look inevitable that Anthony Joshua will never become the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World. Having to listen too the complete and utter mess of excuses coming from possible opponents is starting to become nauseating. Dillian Whyte, "Let's go baby! Let's Go!!" ... unless the rematch clause doesn't suit me then I'm off to fight Oscar Rivas because who needs a belt when you're a warrior. Luis Ortiz, "I will fight you anywhere, anytime" ... unless it's at 6 weeks notice. I couldn't possibly manage that despite the fact I only needed 5 weeks to prepare for Wilder and by the way .... 7 million dollars is chump change. Deontay Wilder, "One face, One name, One Champion" ... unless you offer me less than 100 million dollars for 3 fights. Then I will have to decline for reasons unkown to time and space. After all it's not about the belts... but I do own the best belt. My heads spinning I need a lay down, wake me up when Tyson Fury is stood opposite Anthony Joshua in front of 90,000 in Wembley. Belts or no belts thats the only competitive fight in HW boxing. PS - Who turned Brendan Schaub & Lennox Lewis into pixie dicked, lily livered morons?
Politics, money and chickens almost always stood in the way of full unification. Usually the guy that really believes he is the best and doesn't have much to lose, wants to unify... the rest doesn't usually
I don't think it will ever happen as long as Haymon and PBC control the WBC title. It's pretty clear that with Wilder ducking Joshua and Whyte, Ortiz doing the same, Kownacki turning down AJ and the WBC denying Whyte mandatory status that there is a concerted effort to freeze out anyone from fight for the WBC belt who isn't signed with Haymon.
Maybe he won't. I'm starting to think that too. But he doesn't need poor old Deonkey. The only loser is Deonkey, not AJ. And here's why... 1. AJ has all the money he needs. He doesn't need vegas. 2. Deonkey STILL needs a big, convincing win on his record and doesn't have one. 3. Deonkey is 33. People forget this. He's coming to end of the road. Next 2 years, now or never. 4. AJ doesn't necessarily need Wilder to secure his legacy. Usyk and Fury wins will do just fine. 5. Eventually Wilder will have to give up the belt, as I said he's close to retirement at 33. The undisputed fight may still happen, just not the matchup we are thinking of. 6. Wilder is the only one who needs the money. AJ doesn't need it because he's already got it. I think that maybe AJ will get all he wants, without needing Wilder.
History will remember this era as belonging to the UK. History will remember Wilder, Ortiz and Miller as the bad apples who ruined the heavyweight division, and made the silliest decisions. Instead we can look to AJ, Whyte and Fury as the true saviors who kept the era alive, who have/will fight each other to give fans memorable fights. America truly needs a gentlemen like, heavyweight hero with cahonas that can save face for them, but right now such person doesn't exist. My thoughts are with the USA, and their bitter fans: This content is protected
Wilder will take an L soon. Joshua has a decade more easily so no , he's going to.be undisputed sooner then later.
No one gave a **** about Deontay Wilder and his WBC belt when Klitschko was champion. Klitschko's claim was NOT disputed. Nobody really gave a **** about Deontay Wilder and his WBC belt until Tyson Fury, (back then the real champion in EVERYONE'S eyes), went over there to get drunk and have a little banter with him after he knocked out Szpilka.
The bodybuilder Joshua will never get his grubby hands on that WBC belt. The bomb squad will see to that personally. Al Haymon got a long list of contenders lined up for Deontay over the next 4 years. All with the president's approval.
