Lewis was fighting shot Briggs and i think small journeyman billups at the stage Joshua is now ?? Do you want to see a mugging bc thats what Joshua would do to him if they both had 19 fights...lol

Lets be real here Joshua would be Lewis's most dangerous opponent right now ,perfect style and attributes of a 6'6 SHW.....

I don't know what you tripping on but that's a two way street. You gotta bring it to get it and for my money Lewis was a better boxer than Joshua is today. Did you hear the shots that Lewis hit Tyson and Rahman with. It sounded like gun fire going off and that's not an exaggeration.

This. Lewis would outbox Joshua at a distance and then take him out

Vitali was training to fight Cedric Boswell on the undercard of Lewis/Johnson when Johnson pulled out injured and Vitali's mandatory was bumped up as a replacement. Both men had the same amount of preparation time, whatever props you want to give Vitali for that performance he doesn't deserve some special treatment for taking the fight on short notice because Lewis did exactly the same thing.

The best Vitali could manage in that fight was to wobble Lewis in the second round - he couldn't even knock Lewis off of his feet - and the fight was a war with both men throwing and landing big shot, but by the sixth round it was Vitali who's face was a bloody mess and looked the more likely to be stopped because he wasn't hurting Lewis anymore by that point but was getting battered with big shots from Lewis and was forced to end the round desperately clinch trying to survive.

Lewis was always able to change his game to match opponents. He could, and generally did, go safety first to jab and control a fight to win on the cards, but he could also be a very aggressive fighter looking for a KO (like he did against Ruddock and Golota), and he could fight on the inside and mix it up with heavy-hitters (like he did against Mercer and Vitali) and he wasn't adverse to fighting dirty if required (he did against Grant).

I would have more confidence at this point in Lewis beating Joshua because he's still more proven at this point than Joshua is. I dont think it would be easy but I would expect Lewis to pull out the win.

Exposed him? By taking everything Vitali had to throw at him yet not once being knocked of his feet, turning the fight around to dominate by the 6th and destroying Vitali's face to force the doctor stoppage. Clearly Lewis was exposed...

    Ask Michael Grant.

Even casuals hate this thread. Should be condemned.

Even if you believed in triangle theories how does Joshua beating a faded Wlad who most think would lose to Lewis mean he would beat Lewis?

Lewis had a far better jab, bigger reach, faster hands, probably hit harder too. His movement was far better, his head and upper body movement was superior too and unlike Wlad, Lewis could fight on the inside so even if he get's inside on Lewis he might fight himself out of his depth as Lewis has proven he knows how to control an opponent inside via clinching something Joshua hasn't shown at all.

Joshua at the moment has far too much to prove to even consider being compared to an ATG like Lewis. Joshua isn't even a finished article yet.

Only if Steward studied their first fantasy fight and worked out where they went wrong! Also don`t forget Manny told McCall to time the sloppy right hands Lewis was throwing at that point in front of the moron that was training him at that point.

Fury would fight Lewis the way he fought Wlad, coming forward against a puncher like Lewis would negate Fury`s own reach advantage that he used against Wlad. Fury would be well advised not to try and knock Joshua out also because he doesn`t punch as hard as Wlad.

Lewis is a proven atg heavyweight. Joshua, whereas he looks like the real deal, is still relatively unproven at this stage compared to Lennox. I would take prime Lennox against present Anthony, but the jury is still out on AJ, and I've a feeling he's a long way to go.

A pre and post prime Lewis won't beat a post-Wlad AJ.
But in his prime, Lewis was Ali level.

I think Wlad`s reach was still a problem for AJ but his own long arms helped him to counter this problem. What was Lewis`s reach, he was only 6ft 5" LOL! Both AJ and Wlad were quick in their match up. Steward said Wlad hit harder than Lewis! The punch that decked AJ was harder or as hard as the punches that knocked Lewis out in 2 awful displays. Lewis movement would help him here, Lewis couldn`t slip jabs very well! Fighting Joshua on the inside would be really dangerous! I think you`re getting AJ mixed up with Bruno! One thing though clinching could prove Vital, look at a great puncher like Hearns vs Leonard. We will never really know.

What do you consider pre and post prime Lewis?
