I admitted that and edited it, you continued to repeat Takam had just 2 weeks notice he didn't.He had been in training for 12 weeks.

    Ok.

No, as I said, not a peak Wlad. But Hopkins vs Tarver is the only 41-year old I've seen look as good. And I think he looked better than a somewhat younger Hopkins did against Taylor. Different styles, though, of course.

Personally, I think Wlad was more motivated than he had been for a long time. For the first time in years time he had something to prove (in a fight that wasn't cancelled) and it showed. But I think he left his last in that ring. If he didn't feel so himself I think he would have taken the rematch with Joshua. But I suppose his body told him "no".

    Just my take, though.

    He was definitely motivated.
    #Obssessed even !
The thing is, I think he was always 100% ice cold serious about every fight for the last decade or more. He took every fight, every challenger, 100% seriously. I don't think he ever lapsed.

I think all human beings have lapses of different depth, even though Wladimir was more consistent than not only most fighters but also most champions. Too bad we never got to see a rematch with a fit and motivated Fury.

I think Wlad was wise to retire when he did.He gave Joshua a great fight ,and I think the rematch would have been bad news for him.

Joshua did do well against Wlad. He had to show stuff we didn't know he had to win it. He got up off the floor to win. It was a real badge of honour. Josh actually has the best name on his resume compared to the other two belt holders.

I just thought he might have improved a lot more from it.

I think with wlad its really down to one thing...amidst the turmoil that would go on in the heart of a true warrior (never thought id say that even 10 ago )

Hes super wealthy,he has a beautiful wife ,all his faculties ,handsome and respected...lots of interests outside boxing...a proven track record of 20 years from being olympic champion to now....hes 41 he took AJ to life and death...in a fight that made hw boxing super prestigious again...but he lost by a whisker when he had his man beaten...than suffered a bad knockout.....the warrior tells him go back in...but mentally at 41-42 he doesnt need emotional burden of going in ring...

    Hats off to two greats
