- 1-4 in his five most significant fights - Hasn't fought either of his two main career rivals - Dependent on Fury throwing him a bone A-side in every fight, favourite in all but one. Quit against Ruiz, schooled twice by Usyk, KO'd stiff by Dubois and ducked the rematch. Gifted gold in London. Became a "world champion" against prince Charles Martin and 284 lbs Ruiz in a big Saudi ring. According to Joshua's biggest fan on the forum @Mitch87 Joshua hasn't had a "top 10" win in over 4 years and counting and he's 0-3 against top 10 opponents over this period. Now 35 years old. Incredible. The Hearns fooled a lot of people and did a terrific job commercially.
Beating Wilder now after Parker schooled him isnt going to do him much good at this point. His only hope is Fury beats Usyk, then he gets a fight with Fury and beat him and then he gets to reign for a few more years. Then he eould have a solid resume with an off night vs Ruiz and Usyk hsving his number. Given his age and ability I doubt it will play out like that though. Also dont see him facing the Fury vs Usyk winner. Both guys are basicaly done after that fight. AJ is done as well but if he cares abiut legacy he just needs to keep winning, try be champ again and keep grinding wins.
"His only hope is Fury beats Usyk, then he gets a fight with Fury" Whoever wins. But in either case he's dependent on a bone being thrown his way by one of them, which I also doubt will happen. "try be champ again and keep grinding wins." I think his motivation would dissipate significantly if Fury and Usyk retired after undisputed. He could still grind out some wins as you say but he'll likely get turned over again before too long.
Pig squealing. I hear pig squealing. Its loud. And I know the reason. Somebody afraid because their beloved Anthony Joshua got pretty real and big chance to become number 2 Heavyweight boxer of this era.
Yep all smoke and mirrors since flattened by Ruiz Gifted the Gold in 2012 and has been the Aside and had every little advantage his entire career Beating Wallin more impressively than Fury and Parker beating 50 year old wilder has brought his fanboys the ultimate joy lol I pray that usyk beats Fury as these guys will go on a complete meltdown if Fury wins lol I'll not even mention the potential of big Frank walking him down and smashing him. Good thread mate. I expect you will get some backlash, but you raise many factual points
"Beating Wallin more impressively than Fury" The Kevin Johnson win was good too, no one else ever did Kevin like that. But unfortunately for Joshua it means little in a historical sense. Parker's win over Wilder was basically Bellew vs Haye.
The win over Parker is now a better win than beating Wilder so out of nowhere that old win has massively boosted Joshua's cv. Not to mention that was actually a unifaction fight too. Parker proved Wilder was never on the same level as superior fighters like Joshua and Parker.
At least he took the fights He offered Deontay generational money and she famously "bet on himself"...now he's begging for the fight... Fury fight hopefully still happens Usyk wont and shouldnt fight AJ again. So? He's not an ATG, big whoop. AJ and Fury and Usyk are the only HWs taking those challenging fights (could include Parker too)....everyone else (including Wilder) content on just getting paid for sparring matches AJ has been good for the sport. I'm a fan even if he's not an ATG. He has a couple of good performances left. Hopefully he gets to glass Wilder in one of them...if not, then hopefully we get Fury. AJ can still be HOF tier if he wins some big fights at the end here
Chisora took more of "the fights" but like Joshua he has a bad record in his most significant fights. I doubt the Fury or Wilder fights happen now. The ship has probably sailed. Same for Usyk 3. Fury and Usyk 3 are the fights Joshua must want above all. Team Joshua and team Wilder were both following the May-Pac playbook, both deservedly ended up with three losses without fighting the other: https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...lder-comically-overplayed-their-hands.714354/ Joshua hasn't beat a "top 10" opponent in 3+ years now and Usyk was a clear underdog before the Joshua fight. The narrative around Usyk was very different back then and Joshua had A-side advantage help him get the nod if need be. Dwyer said the other day that AJ "still has a shot at the Hall of Fame". If he loses to Ngannou though he can kiss that goodbye lol.
Usyk 3 is absolutely NOT needed. If the Wilder fight sailed then why is Wilder fighting on AJ undercard again? Fight hasnt sailed. Fury AJ will be big so long as it happens by 2025. And why are you comparing AJ to Chisora??
