Same can be said about Fury tbh, got Wlad at the right time and 3x wins against someone that was maby never that good in Wilder.. that’s it. That being said AJs game plan for this fight was pretty much starch him early, it was clear to see he didn’t think Dubois was any good, you can’t go into a fight hands down showing such disrespect with someone with as much power as Dubois.
Great breakdown of Anthony Joshuas resume. Still think hes top 30 all time. There simply arent that many great heavyweights
Joshua's career has panned out as I expected. He was never going to be an all-time great but he was a decent heavyweight. He was extremely well-marketed from the beginning. Was in some good fights. He will be remembered for a long time by a lot of British people who packed stadiums and pubs to watch his fights. Like Frank Bruno. He's made a lot of money.
Honest assessment He will be remembered as an explosive heavy with some glaring vulnerabilities He will go down as a very good heavyweight, but not a great one Give Aj the right opponent and he looks like prime tyson or Foreman. However, he struggles on the backfoot and is like a deer in the headlights when hurt I was wrong about his heart. Although his chin and I.q are very questionable, he proved his heart on Saturday He is a box office attraction and definitely marked his name in history. Aj is a great front runner, but is he a great fighter? Not for me
Furys chapter isn't closed yet mate. I know you think he has zero chance, but let's wait until December. I think you are all in for a big surprise Also bowe beating Holyfield twice is higher than Aj Also usyk is a fully fledged heavyweight now, far from a cruiser. So if Fury beats him it will push usyk back on ATG lists and very much counts. He was a huge cruiser and bigger than Holyfield as a heavy. Nobody looks at Lewis or bowe for beating a cruiser and Evanders losses do cost him some places in lists So to cut a long story short, if (a big if in your mind) Fury demolishes Usyk, then it will 100 percent harm his standing, as he won't have the amount of fights/wins to stand along Ali/Lewis etc. He doesn't have many fights and though quality is more important than quantity, the other greats have both. All usyk has is the zero and if that goes? Then so does his top teir rating There is a lot at stake for both and I can't wait. May the best man win and I'll happily give usyk his due if he wins, but if he loses? I will be saying he is extremely over hyped
In could be the case that having a clear 12 round win against Joseph Parker will be his true legacy in terms of being legitimate as a world level fighter. That was not a satisfactory fight for either man, or the fans. But a good result.
I can't entertain the idea that AJ could be included in "all time" top 30 or 40 or whatever. As things stand. Heavyweight is not THAT WEAK across history In terms of drawing a crowd, yes, Joshua is historical. But his actual record? Not much there.
Anthony big gangsta Joshua actually not bad, in fact very very good. I bought the hype after he starched Whyte and even more so after the Wlad fight. His first loss to Ruiz was a fluke, feel like his 2 losses to Usyk were more exposing. The loss against Dubois was worst of all though - it certainly didn't look like a fluke and it wasn't against an ATG like Usyk. Lesser than Usyk, on par with Fury, better than Wilder and Parker.
One of the best British heavyweights of all-time, definitely better than Frank Bruno which he can be proud about. Overall, even as someone who doesn't like AJ, he was a good heavyweight champion, to have multiple defences of the unified heavyweight championship is notable. The biggest legacy fights for him now are Wilder and Fury, they should be the only fights he considers now. No point doing another 4-fight rebuild, Hearn should target the Wilder fight, which if AJ wins he can say he was the 3rd best of this era. And if Fury loses the Usyk rematch, AJ should target the Fury fight to claim 2nd best of the era behind Usyk.
