Anthony Lewis Bellew vs. David Deron Haye II & Emmanuel Rodríguez vs. Paul Butler RBR.

I think Bellew was defintely taking a look and wasn't really concerned about whether he won those rounds or not. But they were both landing around the same percentage of punches they threw. Haye was more active, his shots were harder, and I did give them those rounds...but, it was one and done from Haye, and that one he was throwing seemed to be telegraphed a lot of the time. So, I never really got the sense that he was in control of the fight; if anything, I felt like once Bellew started throwing more (which he did once the third began) that he would be able to carry the momentum from that point forward. His punches were shorter and when he did throw, he put them together much better than his opponent.

So, the first two rounds seemed to be rounds that Bellew gave away, rather than a matter of Haye winning them out-right.

 

He didn't show any signs that he had a leg injury in the first two rounds. He was moving around the ring pretty freely. (he even was using footwork to back away out of danger at one point)

I think it was the 2nd knockdown he landed awkwardly, near the corner with his knee bent but it didn't seem like the achilles went or anything. he got up went back to his corner and came out moving OK. That's what's frustrating is that he did appear to have healed his leg / feet problems to a large extent and was doing quite well early, but then in the 3rd it seemed like he got a little too aggressive and got into an awkward situation where he pulled back and put himself off balanced giving Bellew the momentum.

 

Fast Car will try and sell that as a 50-50 fight, and the casuals will fall for it hook, line and sinker!

 

Lol im reading that the infamous Dwyer said that Haye was close to another reign as HW champ prior to the fight.

 

Of course they will. Hearn will milk them like milk laden heifers.

 

Did he,I’ll have to take your word for it.I was referring to a quote about him always seeming to drag his leg and thinking back he did.

There's something wrong with David Haye's posture. He's too "hunched over" looking with his head sticking out and too "flat footed". I really think David Haye needs orthotics in his shoes or something to give him more perceived "height". There was one point in the fight where he changed his posture and became more upright.

 

A little farewell run out on the undercard of Joyce's next fight would be nice.

 

Bellew accepts his no HW. He has no plan or ambition to fight AJ

 

That still wouldn't stop fights against some of the shorter heavyweights being touted moving forward (Povetkin in a revenge mission on behalf of his good mate Price, Parker, Slick Andy Ruiz etc).

I know Bellew has said he will steer clear of Joshua and probably Wilder; but my initial post was more geared towards how Sky and Matchroom will hype and sell a mooted matchup between Joshua and Bellew. Personally, I'd like to see him go back to Cruiserweight and fight Usyk, Gassiev and Briedis -- all three of those are potential barnburners.

 

Tonight proved that once Haye's speed and reflexes have gone, he hasn't got a boxing brain.

Bellew deserves credit for proving tonight that of the 2, he is the smarter fighter.

Haye was very wild again, wasting a lot of energy, and that was down to Bellew's footwork, and more importantly his head movement.

He was using very good head movement to avoid Haye's shots. By doing so he didn't have to run, and was always in a position to return fire....Hence the KD's caused by Bellew's hooks.


Both are of similar age, 35-37, with Bellew having just 1 more fight.
He's gone from a skeleton at LHW, to the WBC CW champ and now has two TKO's at HW over David Haye.


A very underrated fighter.

There's little to no money in those CW fights...That's all Bellew should be concerned about at this stage of his career.

He secured his family's future in Haye l, and has secured his legacy in Haye ll.....


He wont fight Joshua, he's already said that, but I think he'd fight Wilder if the money was right.....

The problem is I doubt he'd be able to get Wilder in the ring.
Povetkin/Whyte/Joshua have been unable to, so i don't see how Bellew could.
(I'm not claiming Bellew could beat Wilder)
