Anthony "The Man" Mundine... does he deserve a shot at Sergio Martinez? He wants to go to America to win a title.:bbb

    Welcome to 5 hours ago.

He won't fight in America, he'll stay in Australia fighting journeymen on PPV like he has been doing for years.

"Hey, I know...I'll peek at Boxrec and then impulsively post a thread asking a very silly question..."

He squeaked by Wood, thanks to a couple of flash knockdowns in the 9th and 10th after having been bullied around the ring for most of the first 8.

NO, he doesn't deserve a ****ing shot at Martinez...or any world titlist at 154/160. A rubber match with Wood at home is about the biggest payday he deserves or is likely to get right now.

I didn't see the fight... so what? That's why I made this thread. I want to know if Mundine is anywhere near as good as he was when he fought Kessler and Danny Green.

I remember him calling out Pacquiao and Mayweather before his loss to Wood.:rofl

Nah let him stay down under and make a good living fighting journymen.

If and a BIG IF Mundine got a shot at Sergio there's only one thing left to say before & after the fight begins.

I liked when Garth covered that song by KISS.

You do realize Mundine has been saying he wants to go "fight the best" for about 5 years?

He is perfectly happy in Aus fighting stiffs on PPV. Since Kessler schooled him he's been fighting bar tenders, cab drivers, school teachers etc.

Some time around 3 years ago we had a good thread about ranking the middleweights, and making predictions for there futures. This was around the time Mundine first announced dropping to 160. I said "Mundine will continue to talk about big fights, but never make any." I tell ya . . . . . I'm a ****ing prophet!

in a word - NO! to me mundine looked shot. legs gone, gun shy and several times seemed unable to pull the trigger.

you hear talk of all sorts of injuries - in addition to his right shoulder/bicep and being near blind in his right eye which have been doing the rounds for years.

mundine used to have a big right hand so either of the above injuries could account for him not letting it go like he used to.

i think the ridiculous dropping of weight hasnt helped him either.

i understand him dropping from 168 if he indeed had lost his power punch but trying to make 54 at his age when he played rugby league around 180 is crazy and could also account for him looking tired.

also i have to mention that he has been swimming in such a shallow pond for so long he's bound to drown in deep water. you fight bums long enough you start fighting at bum level

I could see Mundine cashing in with a fight against Felix Sturm in Germany. Mundine's a bit of a star in Germany having been the only man to ever be knocked out by the great Sven Ottke.

Mundine had a vacant title fight with GENNADY GOLOVKIN and would not take it.
