I want someone to explain to me

    1. just how does Mundine make money in these events his team puts, i mean where does his money come from and what is a realistic figure he would make from a fight (say his last fight)

    2. Where would money for Bika come from and what do you think is an acceptable price for him to be asking considering it most probably would not be his team organising the event?

    1. Aren't his events PPV? Aren't the Aussie networks paying money to show his fights, because they make money through advertising + extra subscriptions? There's the live gate, sponsorship, etc...

    2. Wouldn't more people be interested in seeing Mundine take on Bika than another Argentinian no one's ever heard of? In terms of what would constitute an acceptable offer, Bika said no to Andrade's offer of $US 150,000, if I remember correctly, in what was supposed to be an IBF eliminator for the mandatory challenger slot. Bika doesn't seem at all greedy to me. If I were him, I wouldn't take a cent less than $US 300,000 in a fight against Mundine. I think Bika deserves around $US 500,000 for such a fight, because I'm sure the money's there to be made with such a match-up. It would be a huge fight in Australia, wouldn't it?

Yeah they are PPV events. I shouldnt have really asked that Q. I was more interested in what is Team Mundines take home figure after it is all said and done.

Also it's a PPV event but i often wonder is it Team Boxa that is dictating to Aussie Networks rather than the other way around.

To the Ordinary house hold boxing fan Shannon Taylor v Mundine is a bigger fight here in Aust for a number of reasons. IMO Bika just doesnt have the name to demand the big dollars we know he deserves. As we know it's all about getting people to pay up and tune in.

Yes, of course...it's the punters that have the ultimate say. That's why this fight will most likely never happen. Mundine can put bums on seats at a much better risk/reward whilst earning almost as much against a hell of alot of guys...:conf

However, Mundine vs Bika on a Golden Boy Promotions undercard would be lucrative for both parties :hey

Yes, it would, but would Mundine take it unless he was forced to, as a way of getting into the American market? I doubt it and I have good reasons for it, given Mundine's record.

you could be right.....and losing weight to fight taylor (?) at middle, in the meantime, will make him older, quicker.

I agree with you - I was just pointing out to teke (who's trying to provide excuses for Mundine :yep ) that Mundine's claims that Bika is asking for too much would be irrelevant if he agreed to fight Bika on a GBP undercard.

The reasons being that while Mundine may not make as much as he does in his Aussie PPV farces, he would be getting vital US exposure against a known opponent, plus they would both profit from GBPs involvement, because GBP can afford to put on a big card to a big market (the US), which will in turn make more money than a Mundine Aussie PPV event.

How much each fighter makes from it comes down to their negotiations with GBP.

Therefore, however much Bika wants isn't coming directly from Mundine's pocket, rather, it is coming from GBPs pocket.

There are alot of things hurting Choc these days . . . The age and injuries aside, as you said ****ing with your weight, up and down, up and down the way
Choc is doing it will make his body older quicker your right . . . Spends all this time getting down to middle weight has one fight there and goes straight to LHW to VS Green? Imagine if he did that, i would put money on Green for sure

yeah that's pretty much it, but also because they are chasing another payday like the Green fight again, that really filled the bank for everyone involved and has allowed Mundine to coast around being annoying instead of fulfilling potential.

having said that right from the beginning he's been doing pretty well off his fights, with each fight being more than you or I might earn in a year, or two, or 3.

I made a good point though. Hopefully the GBP gets to happen so Mundine can school him :p

All the talk of Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions sucking on Mundine's balls is just that - Talk. Oscar just had a caesar salad in LA with Anthony and Khoder. He didn't bend over and let them sodomise him like they are used to doing to Australian boxing fans. Oscar just spend 30 minutes out of his day and enjoyed a nice salad at a nice eatery, he didn't come out here and have numerous discussions with Anthony and his people and watched him work out etc. Oscar might sign up Anthony and promote him in the US and put him on some big undercards but they won't be paying him hardly anything because lets face it why would they, outside of Australia no one knows who the f#ck Anthony is because of the way he has conducted his career and the 2 times he has fought well known elite fighters from overseas he has lost. Is Mundine willing to fight for peanuts against decent opposition on undercards overseas ? I think we all know the answer to that.
