You thought you would get the answers you wanted didnt you Decebelle You think Andrades style is wrong for Mundine, its the absolute opposite. Mundine is waaay too good defensively for Andy to land any amount of substantial damage to KO him and even struggles to land anything cleanly. Pressure would be applied by Andy but would that alone allow him to win rounds cause Mundine is a very accurate counter puncher and when he sets himself can hit very hard.
Terrible terrible matchup for Andrade. The main determining factor in this matchup would be footwork, more precisely Andrades footwork, I dont think its good enough offensively to catch Mundine cold if he was to employ a stick and move plan. If Mundine was to fight flat footed then Andrades chances improve, anyway this fight pans out Mundine would win imo.
THIN you would pick the ice-cream man to beat Mundine. One thing I know is that Mundine wont stand around like Stiglitz did and trade punches and get caught with the big shots. Mundine will hit, move and counter his way to a points win.
Choc is a natural counterpuncher. True. But he loves to counterpunch boxers. He loves to stop boxers in their track by hurting them. They have to reset and start again. Sure...I agree...but this isn't the case here. Librado is not a boxer who will come at you, whom you will counterpunch and who will reset and try again. Librado is NOT Hatton or Katsidis! You are assuming he brings the same kind of style to the table. If he did, I agree, Choc's style would be too much for him. Librado brings a different kind of pressure that that brought by e.g. Hatton or Katsidis. First of all, he uses those loopy, fluid, deceptive shots. These make up a lot for his flat-footed style. Then, he doesn't get stopped in his tracks like Hatton or Katsidis would be stopped, by a counterpuncher. He rides with the punches very well and in a fluid motion hits back with another loopy shot. Because the shots are so loppy, but still precise, he overcomes some of the distance that Choc's superior footwork would create. Third of all, he hits quite a bit harder than e.g. Hatton or Katsidis, WITHOUT having to plant his feet (a bit like Berrio, for example). This, again, makes up for his flatfootedness. Not least, because of his amazing chin, stamina, workrate and will to win, he would not swarm Choc (I never said Librado was a swarmer), but he would drown him. Choc, hates to have someone wave on top of him. He cowers when he sees that the guy keeps coming but that he cannot hurt him with his power or speed - and he cannot hurt Andrade. This is why Andrade, even though he loses all the rounds before the stoppage, eventually gets the better of an intimidated and broken down Choc and stops him, in the late rounds. You mention Green and Soliman as examples of pressure (I haven't seen the Echols fight, so I won't go there)...well...Green is NOT a pressure fighter, is he...and the kind of pressure that Soliman brings is laughable too - I cannot believe how overrated this man is just because of his unorthodox style. Soliman is pretty much straight up. There is NO resemblance whatsoever between Green and Andrade - none! And Soliman is much too ineffective to hurt Mundine with his style and kind of pressure. So, no, these two fights don't provide any evidence at all that Mundine could deal with Andrade. :good
Basically without writing war and peace, Andrade = FAR TOO SLOW. He won't be able to land clean punches on someone who is as good defensively as Mundine. Kessler had the handspeed to land, and even then it was difficult for him most times. The Green fight was a good example, because Green did try to apply pressure in this fight, however he did not have the handspeed or the angles to land on Mundine. Mundine totally outboxed him because of this. Green is sharper with his shots then Andrade, puts his combinations together better and has superior balance, yet Mundine had no trouble avoiding his punches. Against Andrade this would become even more apparent. Swarming pressure would be more effective against Mundine (in a style like Hatton) because you could smother Mundine and make it hard for him to land clean punches. Andrade doesn't fight like this though and gives his opponent room to box and move, even though he still provides pressure. Mundine will see Andrades punches coming from a mile away. Very good match up for Mundine, against a currently over rated fighter.
It doesn't matter that Librado is much slower. And I disagree that a Hatton-like style would be more effective in this case, unless it's as good as Hatton or better. When Choc counterpunched Green, what did Green do? Cover up and stay covered up, allowing Choc time to breathe, to control space, the ring, everything. Then he would open up with another straight one two...well...of course that didn't work...Green is no Kessler; he doesn't have the attack, nor the defence, nor the footwork, nor the speed - big difference. Well, Librado would catch Mundine fewer times than Green did, of course, but when counterpunched, he would not cover up and just stand there; he would ride with punches and attack in the same movement, moving in deceptive ways, despite his footwork - almost diving forward like a wave - he would drown Choc, of this I'm sure. Whether he could survive, I'm not sure...but he would drown... Andrade TKO 10 Mundine
[YT]is98OtZSFKs[/YT] Although this clip doesn't show enough of Mundine's defensive skills, it gives some idea. Green has more handspeed and is tighter with his punches then Andrade, and watch how Mundine avoided almost everything Green threw at him. Having watched the whole fight, Green was throwing fast combinations at times, yet still couldn't catch Mundine. Mundine is very tight defensively with his turtle shell defence, and can still be effective in close quarters. I don't see anywhere in the ring Andrade wins this one. The only thing that can happen is Mundine losing the fight through inactivity.
Have you seen the whole Green fight or only what is on Youtube? Because Green did attack, although in the video you don't see a lot of it. He came in close and was throwing punches, they just weren't landing. Andrade has very poor balance, and can get KTFO if he isn't careful. Mundine has under rated power, you won't see Andrade walking through his punches. The speed differential is massive in this fight, and will be a big factor.
Watch the clip you posted carefully - Green, after doing well, stops, resets and tries again - of course Mundine will do well against him! The wrong kind of pressure from a guy who isn't even a pressure fighter. This is NOT how Andrade fights. He keeps swinging and swinging; he doesn't reset at all; he doesn't cover like Green does - he rides the punch and goes on the attack in the same motion. You keep making the same points, I keep making the same points - there's no middle ground. Let's just leave it...:good
