Think this is an interesting thread. Seeing how poorly Pavlik performed on the weekend.

Kelly lost to the highly skilled Hopkins and Mundine got knocked out by Ottke.
Hmm this is a tough one to call :patsch

He got knocked out by a unbeaten champ (be it a second rate one) after boxing for a year, yeah that really says a lot about a man. :nut

Mundine makes Hopkins look like a walrus in terms of hand speed but he wouldn't know how to follow a gameplan if his life depended on it. He would take rounds off Pavlik and eventually get stopped.

I do get confused with Pavlik stopping Mundine.

I mean if Kessler couldn't? And Danny Green couldn't?

How can Kelly? When at 170? he barely looked capable of throwing a punch, yet alone landing one on the weekend?

The more i think about this. The more the Australian walks away with the win.

Good to see we have people recalling things from 9 years ago? 11 fights into a pro career, with no am experience.

    :patsch

Yet another no knowledge guy*sigh*. It was Mundines 11th fight, and he didn't have a amateur background. He was hit in the temple and went down. It can happen to anybody.

At 170 against a guy who is one of the shrewdest, craftiest boxers ever. How about you just keep your ******ed Mundine love threads in the Aussie forum where we know and forgive you ok BTT.

Mundine annoys the crap out of me, but would have a good chance, if he focuses.

Mundine has natural ability, but I sincerely question his hunger at this point. Pavlik seems more hungry.

Having said this, I think it would be an interesting fight, and I wouldn't be surprised if Mundines speed and athletism was too much for Pavlik. The Ghost is wide open, and just comes forward. However, Pavlik does have a good workrate normally. To me its a 50-50 fight.

So what? Ottke had a KO percentage of 17% - of the 6 KO wins he has on his record, he only clean KOd 3, including Mundine.

Mundine had fought 10 opponents previously who had better KO records than Ottke yet he wasn't stopped by any of them, he even clean KO'd 3 of them.

Ottke, while a good technical boxer, was the most feather-fisted champ at SMW at the time, which is why Mundine campaigned for a fight against him.

Then he shouldn't have signed for a championship fight and talked **** about how Ottke hits like a girl. Also "no am experience", well Audley Harrison won a Olympic gold and is still ****.
Fact is The mouth would run all night as he knows Pavlik could ko him, Did Mundine even engage a 70% Kessler? He has skill that is undeniable but he also has a **** load of fear in him, otherwise he'd have stayed at 168 to defend his paper belt.

    See above.
And your little no knowledge guy comment made me chuckle, I'm entitled to my opinion and when I stated that Mundine got knocked out I was in no way factually incorrect, so how can you guage my level of boxing knowledge from that statement?. The reason I didn't add that it was only Mundines 11th fight is because I consider it irrelevant. He shouldn't have signed for the fight only to use that as an excuse later.

Of cause you are entitled to your opinion, but you can't just look at one side of the coin, and go from there.

When you have no real boxing experience, you are learning as you go along. Despite Ottke was featherfisted, he was a really smart guy. As Mundine was totally unexperienced for a fight of this magnitude, he left himself open, and got hit on the temple. That is pretty much like taking a hit to the liver unaware. You go down.

Even people with vast amateur experience needs to adapt to pros, but for a guy who played Australian football, it is a whole new game. So of cause its relavant. Not saying he made the right choice in facing Ottke this early, but Mundine is arrogant, and he wanted to take the other top guy at SMW. Nothing wrong with ambition.

i agree that Mundine does seem tenative, though.

Yet another no knowledge guy*sigh*. It was rugby league, not Australian football that Mundine played.
