i think alot of people on here underestimate mundine because they have only seen the ottke and kessler fights and maybe the siaca one
his improved alot since all them especially since the kessler fight even though he clearly lost i think he really gained alot of confidence from that fight

I don't know what happened to Choc but he HAS changed...he isn't the same man who took on Ottke after 11 fights, with no pro experience. Maybe the money has changed him and he likes the easy life. I just don't think the passion is there, to be honest. If it were, everything said and done, he would have been gagging to fight Kessler again, after Joe beat him. Do I wish to see Choc take on the best in the division? Sure! I'd wish he fought Bute EVEN if it meant Bute'd get beat. Best for boxing and would be a good learning experience for Bute, if he lost. Do I think Mundine will fight the top fighters at 168 ever again? Alas, I don't. Hope Choc proves me wrong, though!:good

He was already loaded from playing Rugby League, so I doubt it's the cash. But he has shown a habit of fighting sub-par opponents and then stepping up the level on a few occasions ( ie. Waters -Ottke, Cacciatore - Echols, Chong Nee- Green, Acosta - Soliman ). My bet is he's just biding his time until Calzaghe relinquishes his 168 belts to step it up. No doubt not the best method and he would be better served fighting more solid opponents.

The thing is though, he wont fight any good opposition. Unless of course he cash'es in one a final payday thing as a B grade fighter at the end of his career. He takes a loss but earns some dough.

You're the second one to say hat. That's not true. Anyone here can go on youtube and see Mundine-Kessler or Mundine-Green. As a matter of facts, I haven't seen the one against Ottke. I think Bute would win (I maybe wrong) bevause I think the best Mundine has is not enough for the best Bute has to offer. And I know Bute is capable of adjust his style against a lot of styles.

You're losing me here. Bute had trouble during 3 rounds against Bika. That's less than Calzaghe did. So if Bika, who won against Soliman by the way, is not a good boxer, that means Joe isn't either. And if Bika is not good, how do you rank Soliman, who lost against Bika? Time tells us that some boxers were overestimate. Tha's the case of Danny Green and Sam Soliman.

Who should he fight? Who will he fight? Just some suggestions..........Carl Froch or Maybe Denis Inkin.......or even Miranda or Allan Green. May not be the world's greatest fighters, but before he even is considered for a fight with Bute, he ought to prove people like me wrong.

Yes, I mean fight someone who will at least hit back.

Wake up Cobba, he's fought and beaten better fighters than all those you've mentioned. Who of note has Froch beaten? Inkin? Allen Green (honestly don't you think by the time he checks the positioning of his feet he'd have a right hand in his face??!!), Miranda isn't proven at 168 at all either. Like it or not he deserves to be rated above all the guys you brought up. He fights bums more than most, we all know that. But he has wins against better fighters than all you've listed.

Exactly who has Mundine beat to make anyone think he is a contender? He has lost to Ottke, Kessler and Siaca if I recall, and beat who? Beats Echols on points..........and thats it. So I guess that what your saying is Beating Danny (Not rated outside Perth) Green and Sam (Never made the grade) Soliman rates as top rate fights? Really?

Your argument bases itself in the fact that Mundine is "The Man" due to him having a 7 fight unbeaten run against club fighters with two of them being Aussie names. Well that makes sense dont it? Dont try to establish yourself by beating 2 or 3 Top 10 fighters, in order to bring attention and credance to yourself, fight bums cause thats gonna make your argument isnt it?

The only win of any repute is Echols, so this argument that Mundines beat better fighters than Froch, Miranda Green or Inkin is bollocks. Is Rashid Matumbla credible? Maybe in your eyes only. For Mundine to get anywhere near Kessler or Bute he would have to fight some recognised fighters, but as you said Rico chong Nee is a better fighter than any of the top 10 contenders ive mentioned?

    Big fish, Little pond.

Mundine is old, he has an injury in his eye and ribs (or whatever) and has been inactive for the last two years I think? No way he beats Bute.

Sorry, what amazing names has Bute beaten?... Exactly, no reason to think Mundine can't beat Bute, very comparable resumes at the moment.

Bute beat Bika, which whilst hardly Nigel Benn, has far more relevance than anyone Mundine's beat of late. See what happens when you actually fight contenders? Someone should tell "The Man".
