I would not be at all suprised if Mundine took a bung for that fight

i have thought the same thing but having watched it again its probably a legit shot

If you watch that punch from a different angle you will see why he got KTFO,

Mundine is some serious talent, if he was as humble in the media as ppl say he is in person then alot more ppl would appreciate just how this guy arrived on the boxing scene.

He has good punch resistence but even better punch avoidence

It's pretty evident even from that angle, I guess some people just don't understand the role that location plays on impact. :conf

If you've ever been hit in the temple in a real fight, you know. Sort of like the liver, I imagine (thankfully I haven't felt that one firsthand).

Echols, Siaca, Kessler, Green and others could not stop him after this bout, obviously it was a fluke.

Not really a fluke just Ottke fought a absolute arrogant novice who didnt even spar a single round before the fight :patsch

Exactly like the Lolenga Mock and Mormeck knockdowns on David Haye, I keep telling people that the angles, timing and punch location play a massive part in the damage inflicted - but it seems to fall on deaf ears. So many people think what they want to think rather than basing their opinions on something relevant.

When Mundine fought Ottke he had only had 10 fights, Mundine was winning easily but was caught by a one in a thousand type punch, terrible fight preperation and over estimated belief in his own abilities at that stage in his career must be partly to blame.
When Haye fought Thompson he had only had 10 fights, Haye was winning easily but tired due to terrible preperation (in terms of both training and in fight strategy), Haye over estimated his own abilities to KO anyone and he paid the price.

Both fighters have learnt lessons from the mistakes, and both deserve credit for taking such difficult fights so early in their careers, neither should have any labels of 'glass jaw' etc due to the outcome, I think the situations of each fighter are more than enough reason for the way those fights ended.

    P.S Sorry to mention Haye.;)

Plus Mundine looked very tired by that point.
Novice pro + being tired + temple shot = Sleep.

yeah it was a templeshot - but boy was that funny - after his whole leadup to the fight and arrogance that shot was the only good moment I've ever seen in a Ottke fight - but what a moment :D

Come to think about it the only one I can think of that's better is Zab's first knockout loss - damn that was sweet too...

I'd expect him not to get knocked out like the many other " novices " that have gone the distance with him.
