Good ol' Tim Cheatham keeping us all on our toes...

Commentators are just as thrown as I am by that weird 57-57 card he turned in. That was a clean sweep for Alvarado, as Steve Weisfeld had it.

That's right, it's going to be AJ vs. Machito Camacho headlining in an exhibition bareknuckle contest. 5 minute rounds, kicks and some bites allowed.

I could've sworn this was the co-main event, but apparently Brian Viloria's kid has been elevated into that spot.

    10-9 Hackett

    Good two-way body offense.

Hackett spams hooks and drops Vines (second knockdown of Vines' career; he looks completely out...ref could jump in here with over a minute left).

Hackett chopping away on him. Vines refusing to fall again but absorbing tons of punishment. Ref giving lots of leeway here. Vines wakes up with twenty seconds remaining and counters with some uppercuts and overhands, but is knocked into the ropes by some more bashing hooks from Hackett.

    10-8 Hackett

    20-17 Hackett

HUGE knockdown by Hackett to start R3, slamming a right underhand into a crouching Vines' temple and sitting him down hard. The referee Thomas Taylor gives Vines a few moments to gather himself and get up, then asks if he's okay, but waves it off as it's clear he isn't.

    KO3!!!!

JMH of Washington D.C. improves to now 10-1 (8), getting back in the W column coming in fresh off his first pro loss to José Manuel "Cheito" Roman Vázquez last December.

A dejected looking Elijah "Vicious" Vines of Philly falls to 8-1 (7).

Hackett holding back tears, talking about how people wrote him off and denigrated him following the Vázquez loss last year (telling him he should give up an apply for a job at Walmart). He said a rematch with Vázquez was scheduled for this past spring but an injury in training camp caused that opportunity to slip away, so he came in tonight with a lot of pent-up frustration.

He says he's looking to take over the 154lb division, and has higher ambitions than Walmart. He says he'll back in the gym Friday (tomorrow).

Damn, I wanted to see that match and I wanted Vines to win. Hackett is a profoundly unlikeable sort.

...btw, BoxRec lists "Major" as Hackett's nickname...and it is that, but it's also his actual middle name.

I didn't see Hackett vs. Vázquez (it was on the Paro vs. Hitchens undercard apparently) - looks like it was a SD with 96-94 scores either way. Vázquez has a decent record and is fourth-billed on the Boots vs. Lima undercard next month. It doesn't seem like that result should have turned him into a social pariah in the sport or anything. The waterworks seemed a little dramatic.

Also, either Mannix or Grisham started objecting to him badmouthing Walmart. "It's the largest employer in the US, give them a break!"

The interviews and video packets they did for him on the Dobson card was nauseating, and he came across bad IIRC.

    ̶1̶0̶-̶8̶ ̶O̶r̶t̶í̶z̶ ̶

    10-9 Viloria

So, that was an obligate 10-8 for Ortíz because the ref initially ruled Viloria knocked down - but the replay showed that it was a stiff-arm by Ortíz so they reversed the ruling. Viloria won the round.
