    August twelfth @ O2 Arena.

7 years and eight months since the former amateur rivals first met professionally as unbeaten young domestic stars on the rise, prior to either man challenging for a world title. Interestingly, as in that contest (for the British & Commonwealth belts) no world title will be on the line now - just bragging rights, and the chance for an unofficial tiebreaker. Whyte beat Joshua in the amateurs in 2009 before getting stopped by him in 2015.

Whyte is 1-2 in bouts for the interim but came up short his only time contending for the full WBC title. Joshua has on two separate occasions captured and on two separate occasions fumbled a whole quartet of titles (including the IBO, but not the green one that Whyte vied for; so AJ has never been undisputed).

    Common opponents include:

    1. Jermaine "989 Assassin" Franklin Jr. - lost to Whyte via MD in November, then via UD to Joshua in April.
    2. Alexander Vladimirovich "Russian Vityaz" Povetkin - stopped in seven by Joshua in 2018. Knocked out Whyte in August of 2020 and was knocked out by him in the rematch seven months later.
    3. "Explosive" Joseph Dennis Parker - lost via UD to both (Joshua in March, then Whyte in July) in 2018.

Whyte's punch resistance is gone, that being said he's still dangerous for a few rounds. Joshua "should" be able to out box Whyte until Whyte tires himself out, then stop him.

I say "should" because Joshua's past strategy choices were sub optimal. He chose to get inside and mix it up with Andy Ruiz Jr, a guy who has T Rex arms. Then he chose to try and outbox Usyk, a phenomenal all around boxer.

    So, who knows?

Joshua is short on confidence which IMHO will spell his downfall against Wilder if they fight later this year. But Whyte is shot and can't take a punch, so his only hope is to spark Joshua out with an early lucky punch.

    Joshua KO.

Joshua knockout and there's a very good chance that an uppercut will be the punch that takes Whyte out again.

I agree there were definitely some worrying signs against Franklin, but that his first back after back to back loses to Usyk and his first fight with a new trainer. If he steamrolls Whyte and looks good in doing it then he's still a rightful favorite against Wilder, but if he wins another lackluster UD while looking gunshy in the process that's a worrying sign heading into a fight with Wilder.

I do agree that AJ deserves to be favourite against Wilder if he looks good vs Whyte, but ... somehow in my head I don't see him winning that one. I think he gets caught and stopped at some point and I don't think he's aggressive enough to stop Wilder first.

I do think he is getting a bit underrated though, his skills are pretty good and he still carries power for sure.

We can be lucky to get any crumbs from boxing in the heavyweight division at all, so I can't complain, Joshua stops Whyte.

AJ has a solid enough chin to take Whytes shots. Even lacking his old swagger he should still win this by KO as Whyte has looked shaky lately.

The only thing "explosive" about Joseph Parker is the projectile diarrhea he gets it after eating Sapasui.

Whyte attacks Joshua with all his might, his shoulder blows out again, then Joshua clips him with an uppercut which turns him into the giraffe necked old lady demon from Evil Dead 2. The End.
