Mad isn't it. I struggle to understand how these lads can let themselves go so badly when there's so much at stake. I've been working some mad hours over the last 8 months or so with my job and DJing and I still manage to keep myself in better shape than Saunders ever really looked and I'm 41 soon! There's nothing at stake for me other than trying to make myself look semi respectable and I have a fear of being a fat ba5tard!

I think we saw the best of Saunders against Lemieux. He was very good that night against a smaller man, but was as good as it got with him.

 

Yeah I've always said that was his best/prime. Boxed very well as an away fighter.

The card was scheduled for Friday and the Joshua fight took place on Saturday.

The promoters lied about the Joshua ringwalk time of 11pm UK time and we all know it was a deliberate ploy to reel in the UK fans while catering for the USA boxing fans.

I see the trustpilot feedback for DAZN UK has another pile of unhappy UK citizens who have been stitched up.

 

I would have preferred to see it live on TV but I was out helping to produce a sporting event.

Why should there be such long breaks between the fights ? I do not understand it. Talked to quite a few people in the last few days and they were all tired of too much talking and the long breaks between the fights.

Friday night I had Adam Smith in one ear and it was a pleasure to listen to !

 

It's ridiculous, I wanted to watch the Jack McGann fight. So had to tune in at 4pm. So it's like a 10 hour shift.

Given no one goes in the arena until the main event.

They should just make it a 4 fight card, with 0 undercard.

Totally agree, I don't remotely understand the 4pm start, 1am finish - there's nothing in it for the broadcasters, few people watch anything outside the top 3 or 4 fights, and the arena is empty as you say. I get that "his excellency" is a boxing fan and wants to make a few people a few quid, and maybe he's just trying to build up some fighters he likes, but it seems like money down the drain and can't be that much fun for the early boxers.

 

I was out helping with a football production.

 

It would actually make more sense for Saudi to sponsor a couple cards in the UK, with fighters his excellency just loves, to help build fights.

Then just have 3 fight cards in Saudi

 

I keep thinking if they really wanted to make an impact they could do something like Wrestlemania 2... 3 different cards in 3 locations joined end-to-end, people in each arena could turn up early (or stay late) and watch the others. Card in Australia, card in Saudi (or ideally UK) and one in the US. Make the fights relevant to each market's casuals and the hardcore will watch them all if they can. Surely that kind of mega-event would put Saudi money on the map better than an empty arena in Riyadh?

Let's face it, an 8-fight boxing card isn't going to persuade a family to do Riyadh instead of Disney.

 

Never mind Disney, would rather go to Darlington than Riyadh.
