I highly doubt it, Earn is stupid but not that stupid, Usyk will see right through him and Earn knows it.

The Matchroom Spin machine will be working 24/7 working out how they cover over his shortcomings in the pursuit of more PPV Loot.

My biggest takeaway from this fight is that AJ does not have the fire, the demeanor, the proper aptitude to rule the HW division. He has always been a nice guy. He likes people to like him. He loves being respected and admired but he doesn't love what he does. He does not have a fighter's temperament. Wilder, by comparison, is a junkyard dog. Fury is like a seek and destroy missile. I would put my money on both guys to beat AJ, even though AJ is such a specimen. I think Fury wears him down and stops him in the late rounds. I think Wilder will unload the Bomb Squad and probably catches AJ. I like AJ and wish him well but I don't think deep down he wants to fight. He just wants all the perks that go with being the HW champ of the world.

Lastly, I am in awe of what Usyk pulled off last night. Just a master class. One of the best performances I have ever seen.

I understand with his being such a commercial machine needing most of these people. Bottom line unless they need to be with him on the odd day, they should all be in an office working for him. On a day to day basis he needs his trainer and the S&C, Nutritionist, Physio, as when required.

Well, yeah. As was the case with Sergio Martinez around a decade ago, I enjoy Usyk as an ambassador and for the kind of champion he is, while never being a devotee of him as a stylist (I appreciate his adroitness in that mold, and the powerhouse athleticism driving it), but I don't feel it was necessary to be on his 'train' in order to visualize what would happen in the bout with Joshua. It wasn't until it was signed and sealed that I really gave the matchup any consideration, at which point the swift conclusion was that Usyk was just all wrong for Joshua. The only question was whether corruption would deny his triumph if he came up short of closing the show — thankfully, it didn't.

I am thinking you meant overrated him as in how he would do against other ATGs?

I find where my mind has been at recently, that boxing keeps changing so much that it’s hard to compare boxers from different eras that I don’t think about H2H matches anymore. I try to compare a boxers based on their accomplishments and championship records, which can also be tough to compare, but the most standardized metric thus far.

I think AJ’s skills are very good for this era, but aren’t as good as back in the days of Tyson, Holyfield or even Lewis. Since the Lewis era there has been a gradual decline in heavyweights skills as a whole. It’s become very top heavy with the champ, while the rest of the top 10 aren’t too intriguing. The top guys like Lewis, Klitschko, Fury, AJ, Wilder are all good, but not totally blowing me away with their skills. They seemed to mostly rely on height and weight, which make them formidable in any era, but not exciting to watch. I don’t get the sense that I’m watching greatness when I watch any of them fight, just to be frank about it.

However, I was actually a bit impressed with AJ in the Usyk fight, even in a losing effort. AJ strikes me as the type of fighter who is the perfect student, but not the perfect thinker out there in the ring. He will follow his trainers game plan to a T. He completely changed it around against Ruiz in the rematch and he totally followed the game plan his trainers had for him this time.

On paper it made sense for AJ to use his height and reach to outbox Usyk. He also dropped weight to be fast and slick enough to employ the style. He didn’t once abandon the strategy, probably hoping Usyk would slow down the stretch. It obviously didn’t work out and in retrospect he probably should have pressed Usyk and leaned on him to get him tired. I have no doubt this is what they will do next time.

Usyk to me was more of the wild card. He clearly had the skills to outbox AJ, but he slowed down a lot since his intro to heavyweights and looked vulnerable against Chisora. His fight against Joe Joyce showed me he had the goods, but he bulked up plenty and slowed down lots since. He looked motivated for this fight and looked back to his speedy ways. I’m now pretty interested in how a fight with Fury goes.

Don't think that Usyk wasn't prepared for such scenario.
Next time Usyk maybe will use punchers gloves and already had used large giants to spar with.

With Ruiz it was easy, there 0 trainers needed to see everything.
1st fight he assumed that late replacement in huge underdog Panda will be easy to KO and look impressive.
2nd fight he had get things we already had saw and get.
Ruiz is leg lazy with slow footwork, reach is short for modern HW too.
Ruiz is good counter puncher with decent chin and fast hands.

Solution: to sit on bike and ensure that fight distance is preferably long distance. Do not attempt to KO Ruiz.
    Result: Ruiz defeated via decision.

Just rewatched. At best Joshua won 3 rounds. Usyk pretty much had his way with him. People keep talking about what Joshua didn't do.. couldn't get his shots off etc.. Well that's because he couldn't load up or sit down on them b/c Usyk had too much ring craft & movement.. always moving, keeping him guessing.. bamboozled him with shot selection & angles.. no excuses.. The guy was simply out foxed in every department.

Have to say I thoroughly enjoyed that fight. I gained a lot of confidence for Usyk as the fight drew closer. I envisaged the fight going as it did but I thought AJ would land something big and possibly finish it. He did indeed land something big but Usyk took it, cementing his status as a legitimate monster heavyweight to go along with some of the best skills in the game. He's a great boxer and a nice guy who truly loves the sport. His coming out party at heavyweight has lit up the division too so it's all good.

I couldn't give Joshua more than three rounds. I've always viewed him as a limited, vulnerable heavyweight and we've seen that now against Usyk and Ruiz. I rewatched the Klitschko match during the build up to the Usyk fight and apart from a couple of wild attacks on Klitschko which gassed himself out, he was handily outboxed. He was very fortunate to win that fight which people forget.

I don't know where AJ should go next. Likely loses a rematch and Fury will want an undisputed fight with Usyk. A lot to think about for his team but it keeps the division interesting. However, I don't see him ever being good enough to beat Usyk or Fury who I hope fight each other as soon as possible.
