Unbeaten WBO #1 lightweight Anthony Peterson (25-0, 18 KOs) will now face big-punching Jose Antonio Izquierdo (16-1-1, 13 KOs) in co-main event of Friday's big ShoBox card on SHOWTIME at 11PM ET/PT.

I'm really liking the Peterson Brothers and Anthony is starting to show that he has the whole package deal. I think the kids is something special - so keep watching him.

Peterson outboxes Izquierdo for another win.

Nice. Fightnews was originally reporting it was Lamont's opponent Antonio Mesquita who pulled out. So I'm glad to hear it wasn't since I'm really looking forward to Peterson-Mesquita.

Agreed. Peterson will be ready for the best by the end of the year. I suspect he steps up big in his fight following this one. I'd put him in with David Diaz right now.

David diaz, santa cruz, cherry, kid diamond.. Peterson would put a vicious beating and beat all these guys right now. A fighter like him doesn't need to step up gradually because he's not like any other prospect. He's special and after this tough fight against Jose antonio, he'll be ready for the top dawgs. He don't need to fight the B level contenders cuz his skills are past that.

If he doesnt need to step up gradually why is he still fighting B and C level fighters 25 fights into his career.

I don't care if he's superman. All prospects need to start at the bottom and he's been a pro for a little over two years but because he's so much better than the other prospects, he can start fighting the top guys in 08. Look at guys like cotto.. He's been a pro for 7 years and Judah was his first real step up.. Then we have guys like Jorge Linares who became champion almost instantly.

Peterson is ready for the bigtime and youll see this friday.

Sure he looks good against B and C level fighters. How about he step up now. Cottos opponents from his 17th fight onwards are as follows: Carlos Maussa, Victoriano Sosa, Ndou, Pinto, Randall Bailey, Corley....compare that to Petersons. Not even close

Carlos Maussa- a B- fringer contender at best. Some might call him a tough journeyman.

Victoriano Sosa- A former super featherweight and much much smaller than Cotto. I wouldn't even mention this victory because it's sort of embarassing.

Ndou- A decent contender who was the first one to make cotto get on his bicycle and tested him. Cotto's win over ndou wasn't all that convincing.

Pinto- Pinto??? pleaseee.. Is he still boxing?

Bailey- is another B- level power puncher. Power is the only thing he has and even Njougou beat him.. ( although the fight was controversial )

Corley- Wasn't even known as a puncher nor a threat to cotto but he almost gave cotto his first loss..

Now im not trying to criticize cotto's resume but since you're claiming that his resume is so much better than Peterson's, Im saying that it's not. In 2003, Cotto's resume looked no better than Peterson's.

ok but how can you say that any of Petersons opponents are better than the above. If so which one? In any case I will be looking forward to this fight on Friday.
