Where he was getting his ass beat so he literally threw low blow after low blow.. That is a cowardly way out. It's better to quit on your stool than reduce yourself to purposefully fouling repeatedly like that. It's boxing. If you can deliver a beating like a man, then you should be willing to take a beating like a man. Rios took the fouls in stride and kept fighting hard, so people don't talk about it, but it was an embarrassing performance by Anthony Peterson and showed his true character. Anyone feel this?
That is old school to me. When you are getting beat like he was by a huge puncher like Rios, you start hitting low and **** to stop him fro steam rolling over you. Better to take a DQ Loss than get KO'd. IMHO. If it is inevitable, as long as the foul isn't something like biting off an ear, headbutting or some other career threating ****.
Whenever Trinidad was hurt in a fight, it was guaranteed he would immediately try and start nailing his opponent with low blows to take the steam out of their attack and earn himself some extra recovery time. It was dirty, but it was smart from a tactical standpoint.
