lol I'd love to witness the absolute ass paddling of biblical proportions he would administer to that pair of clowns Caleb Pant and Young Christopher.

Good post really good interview. He and Buatsi are two of my favorite prospects in boxing, and it's so refreshing to see two prospects with the pedigree and talent those two possess to also be as humble and respectful as they are. How could a true boxing fan not like either of them?

With those two being two of my favorite up and comers, if not my absolute top two favorites, it creates a sort of conflict of interest for me in the context of them being potentially the two best LHW's in the world and by rule essentially sworn enemies with a serious rivalry. After watching both in interviews though, you get the sense that even if that is the case, it will nwver be personal, just boxing and business, and both come across as having way to much class to verbally cross the "personal" line to sell a possible and potential trilogy of theirs down the road, instead letting their skill, talent, and thinking in the ring sell those fights. If that's the case they do huge numbers and I really would be hard pressed to favor either over the other at this point, but with a gun to my head -- ight now at this exact moment -- i'd probably favor Buatsi to take 2 out of 3 against Sims Jr. With all three fights being as close and competitve as possible and all three potential FOTY candidates.

Sims Jnr, is the real deal. They are going to prime him for SMW champ then move up. Eddie has been told numerous times by the british boxers who have sparred Sims how badly he bashed them up. Bivol was also miffed and got exposed in sparring.

Thanks. Yeah they're both likeable humble good guys and very talented. As you know, Sims Jr. is going to be campaigning down at 168 and I don't think Emperor Eddie will be looking to match them up with each other any time soon. But it's definitely one that could happen further on down the road and if and when it does, due to their respective styles and talent level, it will be a hell of a fight. I have no idea which of them would emerge victorious as it's too early to say but it would be a mouthwatering match up for sure.

Awesome analysis. I'm completely torn over the prospect of them fighting each other. On one hand it's almost a FOTY candidate before it even happens and it's guaranteed to be both a hell of a chess match and a total dust up. On the other hand, those two and Josh Taylor are my favorite up and coming fighters in the world(though Taylor is well past the prospect/up and comer category) and I'd hate to see either of them lose. If they both are brought up correctly, not rushed, and continue to develop and improve as they progress through their careers they should both be able to reach and fulfill their massive potential. If they do it's a toss up I think, though maybe a slight edge would have to go to Buatsi as he is probably the naturally bigger guy. As they are right now I think Buatsi is the slightly better fighter with a razor sharp edge over Sims Jr. in regards to skill level, technical and fundamental soundness, better and more accomplished amateur pedigree, and due to the latter more experienced against world class opposition and has more experience against different types of fighters and pretty much all styles in the world. I think Sims Jr. is the better athlete but I think Buatsi is the noticeably bigger puncher, tighter and sharper boxer, and edges out Sims Jr. in timing and accuracy. I guess what I'm essentially trying to say is Buatsi is clearly deeper into his development and further along towards fulfilling his potential. But, I think Sims Jr. might actually have a slightly higher ceiling, but whatever, they are two incredible talents/prospects as well as fantastic ambassadors for the sport and all class as men. It's really gonna be a hell of a privilege watching them grow and develop and I can't see how anyone could root against them. The scary thing is, as good as these two could potentially end up being, I actually think Josh Taylor will be the best of the three and I think he's got the highest ceiling of the three as well.

I also can't wait to see how good/great Liam Williams could turn out to be now that he's with Ingle and done with Gary Lockett. I bet Ingle can wring out all of his potential, fix many if not most of his flaws, and help him reach his pinnacle. If Liam Williams can put it all together and realize/fulfill his massive potential I think he's a nightmare for anyone at 154, besides possibly Hurd, though a prime Williams vs. prime Hurd would be more of a tossup...…. But Hurd is friggin' enormous, powerful, surprisingly fast and explosive, with a great chin. By the time Williams peaks though I think Hurd will be up at 160, or at least I hope he is.

Great post. I still think Emperor Eddie will probably keep them on separate paths for the foreseeable future and he will try and guide them to world title shots before matching them up with each other. They're both young, Buatsi is 25 (turns 26 next month) and Sims Jr. has just turned 24 today and he has very high hopes for both and the fact that it was Hearn who suggested Sims Jr. moves down to 168 leads me to think he would rather not throw them in with each other yet albeit I could be wrong about that though.

I'm not sure Buatsi is bigger to be honest, maybe he's got one of those deceptive looking bodies where he's bigger than he looks but I've always thought he looks quite small for the weight. But I agree with the rest of your assessment of them.

Josh Taylor is one of the most impressive talents I've seen in a long time and as you know I'm a huge fan of his. He has it all and if he can take it as well as he can dish it out, and so far it looks like he can, then the sky is the limit for him.

Me too, Williams has the talent and tools to win a world title and if Ingle can bring the best out of him and get him right mentally I think he will. Hurd's very good and massive for the weight but he's easy to hit so I wouldn't rule out Williams, who can box and bang, against him. He'd have to believe in himself though and not get overwhelmed down the stretch by Hurd's pressure.

Here's a segment on Williams from the other day.
