I think this is a good point. Hughie was progressing really nicely until his unfortunate illness. This proposal for Anthony is optimistic considering he's suffered with hand problems. Thats 3 fights in as many months before years end. He's had to be pulled out before. I say that as somebody who thinks he's a great prospect too,if his hands hold up. I don't like the Sprott fight, its a mismatch at this point in Mikes career. He deserves better than being a knock over for a younger, bigger man.
Why don't they bring Derek Rossy as his 3rd opponent if he gets that far. Then if he does well, which I think he would, get Glaskov over here for maybe his 2nd opponent of 2015.
It is is a big jump and I'd like to see him fight K Johnson first, whom I believe Joshua would knock out. I think Arreola is one of the most overrated heavies of recent years and seems a little shot to me so I'd be happy to see Joshua face him. Ustinov is a fight I'd really like to see sometime next year, tall and durable with dangerous power but lacking a bit in speed and skill, would be a good test and great learning fight and camp.
You're the one who's mentally ill if you think Joshua is athletic the dudes stiff and ridged, you know nothing about the sport of boxing...talk with someone who's on you're level pal save yourself self from further embracement..
Pal, you are yet to respond to a single point made, you just make single sentence statements with no explanation. Why even bother. I agree Joshua could lose some mass and work on flexibility, but to say he's not athletic is plain daft.
Any prospect like Joshua that jumps in with Slice, whether they knock him out in 10 seconds or whatever, would be damaging there reputation.
So a washed up 50+ matt skelton actually enhances your reputation. ? Whether slice is considered a freak show or not my question was would your risk joshs chin against a very dangerous man for 10 seconds or not?
Yep,Johnson isn't a bad opponent at all. Not as dangerous as Arreola, but still a big step up from his opposition so far. But I think he might take Anthony a few rounds,if not the distance, which wouldn't do any harm. Then see how he goes and Arreola wouldn't be bad next. Although I agree with you that Arreolas a bit,IMO,overrated this would be good progress. To me his career has been taking baby steps for an olympic gold medallist. Needs an injection up the arse, plus a little bit more activity. But I suppose this is all back to the hands. If he could get to the point where he beat Ustinov by next years end Id say he was well on target but by the way he's been handled so far I seriously doubt it. British title shot maybe, which is a long way short of that. Hope Im wrong.
Joshua needs a test, someone who can take him 12 rounds now. Not only getting used to fighting that long but see how his skills hold up throughout and learning far more than hitting cans for a few rounds. Johnson would be good for his first fight next year if he comfortably dispatches with the 3 he has lined up.
I don't know, whilst the first 6 months was very poor, I think Airich, Bahktov and Sprott to finish his first year as a pro, and 10 fights like originally planned, plus sparring with Klitchko, isn't bad going! Johnson followed by Arreola is the progression I want to see after that, there's tons of durable mid level guys like Adamek, Ustinov and Thompson. Who do you think he would fight for the British title? There are a few options. Someone like Gary Cornish, David Price is a possibility, or hopefully, the lower of Fury Chisora later next year.
Isn't Cornish fighting Lewison soon? Maybe the winner of that. Doesn't seem to be too bad,and a step up from present opponents,Skelton not being what he was. ***ton not too bad either. The one I really don't like is Sprott,he's been great but gone back a long way. More for his protection than anything else. I can't really see a Price fight as they've both probably got ambitions beyond the British. Maybe Euro in a couple of years?
I'm so glad this has resumed to a sensible chat about boxing. I feel after these three fights though Eddie will bring a 'Big' name over her he likes to 'suprise' so Arreola or Johnson wouldn't be a bad shout or Banks or if you want rounds Dr Iron Chin Mariuz Wach
