Anthony 'The Real Deal' Joshua??

Looks really promising, but until he goes into a tough and testing fight, it's hard to tell. We know what happened to Price and he looked promising too....

 

Thats very true,but I do think Josh was the better amateur. I suspect he's got a better chin and a bit more steel in him. I do like Dave,though,and wish him well.

 

Lewison is out now. Cornish is now fighting Larry O.

 

Does Joshua fighting for this "International" title signal Fast Car's intent to guide him down the international route do you think, or could you still see AJ fighting for the British in the future?

 

which british fighters are there to beat? already smashed skelton. mcdermott,williams,larry O,Cornish,dallas,sprott all bums, and all should retire. okay cornish shouldnt retire but he is a bum.

I think joshua shouldnt even bother. And then the next step is fighting price,chisora and the furies which is a bit early yet. he could beat them but they should keep it for later.

Well Fury vs Chisora is for the British title and they are both top 10 heavies so don't rule it out down the line, just for the sake of Joshua been British champion like Lewis and so many of our best fighters. I agree that he should forget about it unless it's a good opponent though, Price is a funny one because he can end a fight with anyone with one punch but has been so softly knocked out your not gonna get credit for beating him.

 

It's the WBC route which at the moment seems to be the best option. Obviously things will change in two or so years once he gets himself into contention.

Joshua should beat Cornish with relative ease for the British Title if that fight happens.

I would match Joshua with some tough journeymen who have the record of going the distance, he needs to get the experience of going the full rounds before fighting the likes of Chisora. Possibly someone like Dominic Guinn or Kevin Johnson - someone like that. Joshua has had too few rounds so far.

 

Those are good fights to make, they can definitely give him some rounds if not go the distance. Those are the kind of fights all heavyweights need on the way up, wonder why Wilder didn't fight those types??? :think

 

I agree that his progression seems to be going well, he is not exactly fighting ‘cans’, but he is fighting increasingly difficult opponents. That does not mean that he is at the level of opponent that I think is going to give him trouble though. Would love to see him take another step up.

 

Yeah he's looked good so far but like others have said, we won't know how good he actually is until he fights the top fighters in the division.

How far do people think he is off fighting for a world title? This Bakhtov he's up against in October is a decent opponent.

 

I agree he needs a Johnson type in the next few gifhts but the way Eddie was talking sounded like he was almost going rush Joshua along in the next 12 months-this will only work if he fights the right people int erms of differing style, attributes etc. He needs a wide range of tests and they have to be as durable as possible.
