Haha. I swear if any fighter knows I want/think they’ll win they may aswell quit first round because they’re losing anyway!
I think you're right. Callum has been better over his career, but I think he's done, lost the hunger etc. He should call it a day. Yarde is maybe still improving and the hungrier of the two.
both would rather get knocked out by world level fighters and pretend they are also world level, than fight each other and risk shattering the illusion
I’m not sure where Smiths attitude of ‘I’m either fighting for the belts or I’m not fighting at all’ comes from, he’s always seemed to turn his nose up at these types of fights, he acts like he’s proved himself as the best in England, he hasn’t at all, he lost to John Ryder ffs. I’m not even saying I’d 100% pick Yarde but I don’t think Smith will take the fight due to his attitude, his brothers are similar. Liam smith had a right gob on when he got offered the Anthony Fowler fight
Exactly. People favour Smith because he has solid "fundamentals" but he has always flopped against the best fighters. His best performance was against George Groves but this was at the end of his career and he was arguably carrying an injury, he lost against Ryder and against Canelo and Bertibiev he got smashed up big time. Outside of these he has fought almost B or C level fighters with the pick of the bunch being Rocky Fielding. Yarde doesn't have the same resume or experience but he he did better against Bertibiev than Smith and going by that metric you have to favour Yarde to put it on him. Fundamentals are good but they don't make a great fighter. Smith has had a decent career and made money for a fighter who draws almost no fans or interest beside his family name but I would like to see this fight. A good crossroads fight for both fighters and 50/50 who wants it more IMO.
I agree with you but it’s a sad reflection of the sport at the moment. Belts or PPV or nothing it seems for the most part.
